[Poll] Would You Like More Management?

Poll: http://strawpoll.me/3454110

Hi!

I'm curious to see how the hardcore Elite community feels about management possibly being added in the game. When I say management, I mean things like:

  • Owning a small station (buying an existing or starting from scratch) and managing it (trading, assigning missions, expanding the station). But it has to be... I mean, hard and expensive to do so. Otherwise you'll end up in a situation where every player owns a 100 million population station and that's just... that's no fun. EDIT: Given the right tools, having player controlled stations could give the systems and stations a much needed personality boost. EDIT: Players could also own parts of a station. Or be part-owners of part of a station.
  • Manage your ship more.
  • Perhaps have a small crew on larger ships.
  • Contract other players or AI to do missions for you.
  • Have contacts and interests on different stations / worlds.
  • Etc

None of these suggestions I've given hours of thoughts on, just some examples.

Anyway, would you like to see more management features in the game?

EDIT: It might also be a good way to differentiate this game from Star Citizen when that game comes out. Because you know, undoubtedly a lot of players might (edited from will) leave ED for SC.

Less automation, less focus on "player control universe", more focus on commander actions.

So pretty much less than nothing from the list except the "galaxy map" bookmarks of contacts.

I voted "I think I would like it", but actually I think it would better something in-between. Like the ability to call a system home and get nice discounts there, maybe buy stocks in the local companies to get some stable income or some other bonuses, something like that. I'm not against player controlled stations entirely, but it should be hard to earn and harder to keep.
It should be limited too. Eg. a player should not be able to have more than one, so it would matter what do you buy, keep.

I'm all for empire building. Player owned stations should be end game in ED. The cost would be astronomical and defending them would be massive instanced battles

No, to all of this. Plus, where are you plucking these "a lot of players" from? How many is a lot, for example.

Yes to all of it, yes to an added strategic element to the game as at the moment it is all tactical, which is fantastic but this game could be FANTASTIC

Edited to add reasoning, if done properly a player(s) would only ever manage minor faction status in a system and at most go on to lead the whole system.

The major factions, Fed, Empire and Alliance could never be overthrown by player(s) and I think this inclusion of major factions is what would keep players in check

plus the Galaxy is big enough for player controlled systems and one-man-and-his-spaceship gameplay approaches

I'd like to have to crew my ship. But I'd assume if was going to be implemented it would be when the 'walk-about' expansion is released.
You could go to the pub with your co-pilot!!

yeah....give me everything.

I could hire and fire crew in Elite2 Frontier.

Godlike powers over digital people makes me MUHAHAHA.

Not fussed about owning a station, but I would like to own my own 'Private Base' somewhere floating in my home system - a mini outpost, I could dock, call home, I could customise a bit, where I could store cargo (illegal too, so you dont have to enter a station straight away) and sell it on later when the price is better. And also I could get out my ship and walk to my lounge where I could bring out my Galaxy maps etc and do some planning, research, make the game feel a bit more real. Also it would be great if your friends could dock their ships there too just for social reasons. Maybe you could start your own bar? Not for financial purposes but it would create a great atmosphere, players could converse through some better chat/voice system...
.
I've played games in the past that have offered this sort of thing, so its not hard to do.

YES !!!

Fantastic idea.

With complete disregard to the group that say "stop trying to make this game like ... or ...." I think it'd be fantastic to see elements of X and Eve in ED. There are aspects of both of those games that are good and would enhance the ED universe. So I voted yes I think so. I think it'd be great to be able to set up a refinery and buy ships and crews that could go mining.

So much for being a solitary commander against the universe. I think this idea goes against the fundamental imaging of the game.

Storage for cargo has already been rejected by FD. Storage for equipment however is coming.

Nope to owning stations or AI ships, that would make it a spreadsheet game. If you want that function it's called Eve.

Possibly the need to recuite crew for the larger ships, that could give rise to some interesting missions and other developments though.
