Poor performance in beta 3 on a relatively high end rig

Hi!
I'm starting to run out of options here.
I'm running i5 3570k @ 4.5 ghz, 16gb of ddr3 @ 2000Mhz, samsung 830 ssd and a DCII r9 290x with a little overclock (on catalyst 14.9 beta).
Tried everything from switching aero off, unparking cpu's, switching everything to low and killing all background processes.
This used to run fine in beta1 and beta 2, but now in stations and highly active areas I get a lagfest like never before :(
Sometimes it even slows down to sub 1 fps in stations and that has almost cost me my ship.

Some help and advice would be duly appreciated.

The performance got worse since Beta 2. It also depends on other factors than your machine. In open play you might get lags because of other players with slow upload speeds, or just because there are so many players in one instance.

I play on everything maxed out and my framerates are usually 100-120, in busy areas around 40-60 and my comp is worse than yours.

Are on nvidia or amd? Do you run windows 7 or 8.1? I'm only getting 75 fps in some rare situations otherwise it's around 46 or below.

Open play or solo? open play has issues right now causing these slowdowns for a lot people not just rift owners.

Don't tell me the networking in this game is peer-to-peer? [insert expletive here], why would a game company do that? It was tested with Vindictus and it failed, horribly. Turned a cool, multiplayer game into a solo-only game due to the lag from upload speeds.

I'm beginning to think this is related to network code. Beta 3 introduced a huge amount of new variables, that might have affected the network code speed. I just travelled to a system with just a few players, handful of npc's and the framerate was almost constant 75fps.

Let's just hope they get their code right so this won't become as laggy as dayz which runs sub 40 fps no matter what hardware you have :(

I have overclocked Nvidia GTX 670 and Windows 8. Also the gpu I use won all tests and had better performance than some newer one, so it might be an exception in judging the performance. I also didn't upgrade to 8.1, because I don't need new shiny functions and more ways to worsen my performance.

I play open play only, as this is a good example in what condition the networking code of betas is. Right now it's a mess. I started to play 2 months ago with first public beta and the performance was going downhill since then. The best experience was with any version of Beta 1. I started to see huge framedrops since Beta 2. Now it really depends WHERE are you. If in core worlds, then be god with you....
