Populating colonies with passenger ships missions

Hi there, 1st post.
Back in elite for a few months, i forgot how great that game was and recently it evolved so much, i hope it stays for a long long time !

Regarding colonies though i think there's a big missed opportunity with the populating aspect of the systems.

How about having to transport population to settlements and stations, including factions representatives from the system you're expanding from and also all the contacts there ?
Those would need high class cabins while working population could be transported like cattle in low class cabins

Until you do those services would be unavailable and until you have completely populated the system it would not reach it's full economic potential.

Today you build an outpost and the day after there are contacts in it and thousands of settlers in the system, missions and economy running wild, that's absurd and like i said IMO a missed opportunity for more diverse passenger missions and passenger ships alltogether.

I very much like the idea of additional activities for activating colony features. Unfortunately I think the update has already launched[1] and this what we got. Also adding "new requirements" for features already released will likely get lots of negative player response.


[1] Yes its called beta, but lets face it, this is the launch. I foresee bug fixes and tweeking economic relationships, but not adding new game loop requirements for features already released.I would be happy to be wrong though.
 
I suppose they could implement new game loop tasks for a colony to get specialty services that I don't think colonies can get yet.
  • Material Trader (Raw, Encoded, Manufactured)
  • Tech Broker (Human, Guardian)
  • Fleet Carrier Services
 
I agree with adding passenger missions to all these new stations (optional). I can't see a reason why not. Its normal to build up populations when people expand to new places. ... colony people, engineers, scientist, worker bees, etc etc. - everybody can't afford a big bad ship
I still do passenger missions for entertainment and seeing places I may not necessarily visit. I don't need the money so that's not the purpose; it can be fun imho.
