I noticed while looking through the in game Options that in my Networking settings the port forwarding option is set as On. As I have no port forwarding set in my ISP Virgin Superhub would it be better if I set the portforwarding option to Off?.

Try it and report your findings.
Some say it's better one way, others say the opposite.
Like all things, your results may vary.
Your router has to have a port enabled for port forwarding. Then set in the games folder.
