possibility to capture wanted criminals alive

not everyone wants to die...so in maybe 1 chance in 20 let the wanted criminal surrender. We get the bounty, security picks up the bad guy and we get to keep...or sell/salvage weapons and parts from his ship.Of course it would be shot up and not worth even half of its value, but it would add fun to trying to upgrade to a better ship. Think: flying a Eagle and getting a Cobra Mk 3 as a bonus for bringing in a wanted criminal.Either transfer to the new ship and return to a base for repairs, or it instantly flys to the nearest base and gets added to your list of owned ships. I had a lot of fun capping ships in the X series...I played it for months and months doing nothing but trying to get the ships I wanted for free. Its quite the challenge.

I like this idea. It would be great if said wanted pilots ejected and you were able to pick up the ejection pod as cargo before turning it in at a starport for the bounty.

Cool idea for mission variations.

Destroy enemy ship thrusters/powerplant/fsd and weapons and he should submit and eject in capsule pod or smth you can scoop.

.... or griefing the scooped pilot by simply transferring to an alt ship and logging off....

A very firm "no thanks" to scooping of player escape pods.

hello mates,
In "Escape Velocity : Nova", once you shed off the shields and got someone to 9% hull (or lower, but 0% was death), you could board the ship to claim their cargo/ship and capture people. What if you used the same cargo scooping/docking techniques to do the same ?
Obviously you'd only be able to do that with NPC to avoid griefing. but that'd beg the question as to why NPC are wanted dead and/or alive but PC would all be wanted dead...

Not sure if scooping escape pods is a good idea or not, but this scenario could simply be handled by auto-magically transporting the podded player to their last dock position and allowing them to view the insurance screen if a player logs out with their pod in the hold.

If some sort of ejection distress call for pickup is implemented the podded pilot could just be ejected into space when the offending player logs off, perhaps with the game making their ship disappear in a FSD flash.

Course we'd need actual death and ejection mechanics in place before any of these issues could be considered. I'm tentatively for pod scooping simply because I think having to do something once you've been ejected, like put a retrieval mission out there for an NPC or player to fulfill would be more interesting then the current magical transport mechanic.

However it would interject waiting and tedium to player death which many would likely find disagreeable, and require a life support system overhaul to decouple the ship's system from a suit based emergency oxygen supply.

They had this in Elite 1. You see a escape capsule that you can pick up. But you sold them as slave lol.

But they will wait until they add the cabins and Stasis
