Possible Cheating/hacking of the BV Phoenicis CG(DEVS TAKE NOTE)

This particular form of cheating/hacking has been known since beta. Frontiers total inaction over such a length of time is disappointing, tbh. These individuals should be banned from the game, not just exiled to solo.

well, they have taken some steps against racking up super high bounties on yourself.

Unfortunately, there is no word on punishment. And probably never will be. Which is sad because punishment is the only deterrent and if there is no evidence that you will get punished, then this kind of stuff will just continue and grow. No nonsense banning is needed. Not banishment to solo or slap on the wrists.

Yeah..it's bad enough ED lacks necessary content..but, as an honest player, I ask myself, what's the point? Why am I grinding my heart out like this if someone scriptkiddy jerk can just give himself whatever he wants in-game, and the devs do nothing? why bother playing?

Neither microsoft or sony are willing to stop their customers ddos attacking each other to gain an advantage, punkbuster was a waste of time and so is steam, to me its a waste of time making a mp game because there is no point.

Multiplayer is a mirror of the real world, the privileged lie and cheat all their lives and get away with it because they make the rules, games are the same and if your face fits you can cheat all you want and never get banned.

In other words cheats in this game know the devs or know someone who knows someone, there has to be a reason why cheats never get banned and this is as good as any.

I've escalated this via the appropriate channels, and I'll follow it up best I can.

Instead of banning someone forever why not just kick them from the game until they don't cheat any more, cheating is not against the law but denying someone access to their product surely is?

Unfortunately that's not within the humble mods remit, hence we need to escalate it to a higher power.

There are many naughty commanders who are restricted to their own special "group" however, and we can only hope that people who abuse the game end up as their compatriots.

no.

MMO and such games can regulate how much cheating goes on and the extent of that cheating and the punishment for those caught. It's not like non-multiplayer games dont have cheating, it's just that nobody else cares what you do in your single player game. Like most players in ED, i'm not interested in playing a single player game, if I was I could load up X3. Multi-player is more fun, and the existence of cheating doesn't stop that. However, letting it run rampant and unchecked is liable to destroy player morale and eventually drive players away.

The cheaters dont have to know the devs to not get banned. The company in question has the legal responsibility to justify punishing a player by removing functionality or access to a game they purchased. Often, this means they have to spend money (however small or much) every time they do ban someone on the off chance that the player will fight it. The p2p nature of ED makes this difficult and not as obviously trackable as console game cheating and other MMO's run mostly on a remote server. So FD has to justify spending money against letting someone possibly cheat. Since individual players have little sway in the overall picture and little interaction with the bulk of the player base, I'm guessing it's not high on their priority list currently. As much as many of us wish it were.

Nope. In every EULA for every multiplayer game ever made, the developer usually retains the right to ban you for any reason whatsoever (or no reason at all). Permanently banning cheaters is standard practice in every single multiplayer game (SC2, Dota, LoL, BF4, TF2, CS:GO, PS2, Eve, WoW, GW2, Diablo 3, Path of Exile, etc.).

In this case, cheating to farm combat bonds in solo mode still ruins it for those that are competing for first place in the CG in solo or open mode. Anyone that's ever cheated in this fashion should be permanently banned from the game, no exceptions.

Even if the "naughty" commanders are in their own group, don't they still effect CG like the one in the OP, which in turn ruins it for legit players competing for first place?

Just before and during the wings update I was liking mp quite a lot until I seen someone warp away sideways and I gave up on mp there and then, some can put up with it some cant.

I'm not condoning this but how exactly would this kill the game? There is no player economy to speak of in fact the game is devoid of all things that would typically be harmed in a traditional MMO from such an exploit.

It certainly hurts the game. This particular CG, unlike some others, has a separate top prize for the single highest contributor. If people know that the top spot will inevitably go to a cheater, they'll be discouraged from competing for that top score themselves.

By driving people away, like I said in my post. what's the point of putting in all this time/effort if someone just cheats and wins? what's the point of pvp if I'm fighting a player who hacked infinite shields for himself? or unlimited ammo from a multicannon? or endless seeker missiles or something like that? It kills ANY incentive I have to take time out of my life(and, mind you, I'm a grown man with a job/career) to fit up a ship and play. Because, at any time, I might run into some yahoo in an anaconda that CAN'T BE KILLED.

that's why.

Any EULA worth the bits it's printed with has provisions to deprive people of their ability to play an online only game if they flagrantly violate the terms of use.

Well now what you are explaining is hacking. I thought the OP was talking about botting or afk farming credits.

precisely these kind of things makes me refrain from participating into any CG, and will not going to in the future unless I see some action against cheating; for starters, cheaters and combatloggers made me abandon my Player bounty hunting career
