Possible date for 'Winter'?

We've been told quite a few times that Winter is coming... Soon...™, but I think I might have worked it out.

December 1st is the official (Met Office) date for the start of Winter, so if we aim for the depth of winter we should probably go for a date in January.

A certain Mr Braben has his birthday in January... (the 2nd)

So, what do you think? Winter arrives on his birthday, along with Thargoids, AI or whatever else FD have cooked up for us?

Winter will come when the first snowdrop peaks through the softening ground and unsuspecting CMDRs, lulled into a false sense of security by the illusion of spring and the endlessly unfulfilled promises of "Soon", are blasted into fiery wreckage from the depths of witch-space. Probably a Tuesday, just before lunch.

If they can't fix the mission system in a descent time then they will need a lot of time to launch the "winter".
Of course if the system is working as indended then i expect the winter at christmas or short after, maybe 1-2 months.

This an interesting conundrum methinks. There are several different aspects to this and only a few we know of. We have the current state of the game, by which I mean the delayed release of updates and patches which obviously has a knock on effect on the Devs time, so they may take even longer on QA in up and coming updates, but it also has to be balanced vs their City Report and Shareholders.

And we all know the official response, don't we folks? :D :D :D

Not ignoring it at all. December 21st, is the Midwinter Solstice and not the first day of Winter. It is the shortest day and the longest night of the year.

And leaning on the side of Paganism... Solstice is my favourite festival of the year :D

Considering there's a minor patch on the way to adjustcombat and powerplay, I wouldn't bet on it happening this year. I'd say January at the earliest.

Seems to me that mostly, the ones saying "Winter is coming" are simply users who want it to happen.

Ah, but you forget what we have learned from game of thrones, which winter is being referred to! :)
