Basically I was just wondering if people think what I am describing as a game below is either likely to be made at some point or whether it is just unfeasible (and I guess whether I am just mad). I would like to see it made at some point but realise I am not likely to be able to develop such a thing on my own. This is the rough outline:
The Container
The main game would be the container for doorways into a countably infinite number of games. I envisaged a cityscape of some kind though it could equally take some other form. The details of this container game is not the main idea but would need to engaging enough for people to play before the expansions. Basically the container would be like a playable Steam platform and would give you access to other games.
The Expansions
As developers add games to the container they become available to the users in a way of their choosing. For example:
You are walking down the street and hear gun shots. You look up to where they are coming from and see flashes in the windows twenty stories up. You look down and see the sign outside the building. It's Nakatomi plaza. This is a downloadable game. If you buy the expansion the front doors open and the game begins.
You walk past a recruitment office that when the game is released has a sign in the window asking for recruits to help fight a war (possibly in the form of a Kitchener-esque poster). Buying the game opens up the recruitment office (cut scene) and a frozen tundra, say, outside the city where the game is.
