So like the headline suggests I would like to see that feature ingame. 
All great Captains had a name for their ship... Columbus had the Santa Maria, Lindemann had the Bismarck, Tameichi Hara the Yamato,
Solo had the Millennium Falcon, Fett the Slave, Kirk the Enterprise and finally Mal the Serenity.
So while the ship classes sound really nice (Cobra, Viper, Eagle) I think it would be really cool to be able to name your ship and to see that name maybe even with custom nose art on the hull of it. Star Trek Online has that feature (without nose art) and i think it shouldnt be too hard to implement. If at first it will put too much stress on the server to render all those freaky names and hello kittie nose arts maybe start trying to make it a feature only visable for each player meaning i can see my custom name but annother player looking at my sip wont. war thunder has a similar set up with custom skins.
it would really enhance the connection to my ship as a home away from home at least for me.
