The first time I saw the capital ship video, I nearly sprained my jaw from it dropping so fast. I was thinking that surely it couldn't look that good in game!

However, having bathed in alpha for a couple of months, that same video looks kinda... early :eek:!

It just goes to show what a great jobs FD have a been doing

I did a slow driveby Impeccable the other day, the detail up close is superb!

And it might get even better than what we've seen in Alpha;)

Yup! Go look back at the Kickstarter footage that we all got excited over - it looks terrible by the latest standards! Frontier keep outdoing themselves :)

Cool thing is it doesn't need a top notch PC either. My 6 year old computer that cost £600 to build just needed a £80 graphics card, and it runs everything full spec without problems. Amazing work! And all this just in alpha. Hats off to all the visual effects artists for really going to town on the loveliness :D

Absolutely... the game just gets prettier and prettier.

Indeed, I was all prepared to upgrade my GTX470 to something more powerful, but thus far it has had few problems running the game (assuming that the freeze-ups etc. are caused by network code etc.).

I, too, am so very excited to see Elite coming along! It's, quite literally, a dream come true. It's like a good book you just can't seem to set down to go to bed. I could go on and on and I must be a fan boy but c'mon, this stuff is pure gold. I'm continually being impressed and drawn in.

Mine dropped too, had to re-watch it several times showing everyone who came in... and still had to keep reminding myself it was only in alpha! :smilie:

This is the man who fit Elite onto a BBC Micro disk with a 1 and a 0. And fit the entire galaxy into 4 1s and 0s. I shouldn't have been surprised with what he'd done with modern technology which could be a lot better if programmers hadn't become lazy.
