Discussion Possible to Sync Journal Files between devices?

I'm running one CMDR account on 2 devices depending on which device I have available. Both devices use all the main third party tools that utilize the journal files. I see several people who migrate their journals to a new system but none of this really helps me. Is there a streamlined way to keep my journals synchronized across devices?

I assume I can export/import the main journal files from a simple copy/paste on a flash drive but the VisitedStarsCach.dat file is a single file that would need to be overwritten if I understand correctly. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

EDIT: A little extra detail for my own use case, for both devices I always launch EDMC with a few plugins that sync data to EDDN, EDSM, and EDAstro. Occasionally I use EDCopilot and EDDiscovery.

Step 1, backup the appdata and save games files for Elite on both systems before changing anything. I offer no warranty on these suggestions.

Then it depends on if you have some file storage that already synchronizes or not. If you have something like OneDrive, Dropbox, or a NAS then you can move the directories you want to synchronize into that storage and use symlinks "mklink" to point the original location into that storage.

If you are stuck with synchronizing via a flash drive, then try Unison File Synchronizer and just remember that you need to run it every time before and after each play session.

I use the symlink trick to get my Journal files live to another system where I run a custom tool separately but I don't need to copy the VisitedStarsCache.dat so can't be certain of that.

I use Unison for synchronizing other games which I some times play on my laptop offline but not Elite Dangerous.

You need to create a symbolic link between your username/saved games/Frontier Developments/Elite Dangerous and point it to your username/saved games dir on the networked device.
