Possible void opal tip?

Greeting fellow cmdrs,
Very new to the game, but recently gave mining void opals a go. I noticed that detecting the difference between VO astroid and one with bromelite maybe just looking to see if it's spinning. I tested with my leftover limpets and was 6/6 in guessing bromelite because the astroid was perfectly still. Can anyone confirm this? I didn't see other posts about it, but maybe it's just a coincidence

False.
had VO in a competely still flower rock.. "Ice sticks out like petals on a flower at a specific angle)
its also why you have to learn what the flower rock looks like from every angle as its not spinning so from the stem side as well not just the face...

Fdev have not stated any thing but I expect the rock deep core insides are not selected untill the prospector lands then the server generates the type...

And the suggestion is?
Other miners have said your better of looking at the colours and pattern of the double scan black grid read out to guess what the core is but thats still flawed as well...

and fails as well...
