PvP Post-PvP Debrief: Any Critique from the experts?

I had a great time with PvP last night at the Potagos Community goal, but I'm always looking to learn and improve. Would be awesome if any of you PvP monsters on this forum might be able to help me with a little post-combat debriefing? Would like to hear from you on any lessons to be learned, mistakes that should have been avoided?

Much gratitude in advance (the fun starts at 16:24)

30 minutes is a long video. I did watch sections though (especially the Viper IV... love me some Viper IV).

Anyway, nice vid!

I'm really sorry about that. You're absolutely right. I'll cut that down in future. And yeah, watching the other Commander totally made me think about getting one :D

I have one that's all G5 modded, and I love it. I really am reconsidering the small hardpoints though. I would also like to build a second that is less tanky. Going to work on that :)

No need to apologize for the length. I actually liked the narration and found it informative. It's just something that I'll have to give a second, proper look at when I have some time to sit down.

Thanks again for the vid :)

you need to keep working on you trigger discipline, but it is indeed very hard to hit a small fast moving target with 5 plasmas. and pip management, with some more in eng you could have maneuvered better and maybe create more opportunities to get at him, and a few times your weapons got out of juice at the worst moment. :)

as for lapolo ... i wonder why he didn't bother to take out your slf? it's my impression it was the slf doing most of the damage ...

cool video. not much good advice to add, not an expert at all :D

happy to fight you if we ever meet!

I'm not going to claim to be an expert at anything, but you were opening up with the frags way too soon, which might have made sense if there were specials on them and you simply try to tag him for the effect, but I didn't notice any. Effective frag range is in the ballpark of 150m against ships that size, and you're opening up at multiple km.

Actually, I'd probably just ditch the frags for a pair of railguns.

Making more fire groups so you could stagger the PA fire better and not use the frags until a good opportunity presented it may help. Your opponent has his TLBs on separate triggers so he can disrupt you more frequently. I would also get a broader array of effects on the PAs, that plasma slug is mostly just a damage penalty in PvP. PAs also seem to be efficient, which while good for distributor, is bad for actually landing hits on smaller vessels.

Working on distributor management and focusing on overshooting less may let you react faster to maneuvers and keep your opponent from opening up as much distance. That's just a matter of practicing multi-tasking while under fire and remaining cognizant of your ship's relative location.
