Post-Salvation Stuff (The spoiler thread)

If you clicked this thread, getting spoilers is on you.

So, since this is my current state of affairs at 1am before a work day...

... I got nothing else to do but live vicariously through the forums for another 20-odd hours. So, hook a brother up. What're people angling at? What's been found that's unusual and/or new? I've picked up a couple things in passing:

  • Thargoid sites outside of HIP22460 are potentially reacting differently to Guardian Cargo now
  • There's logs in the various wreck sites in HIP22460, but they're hard to get thanks to heavy Thargoid presence
  • Guardian modules degrade rapidly in HIP22460, with fears that sphere of influence will expand
  • Massive green glob on 10b which we can't land at.

Anyone gone to check on Guardian sites? Any new behaviours or interactions with barnies/guardian sites/thargoid structures? Any new interactions with Interceptors?

I guess the moment of massive burping when you bring guardian stuff to a Thargoid ground site, is in fact its starter engine not quite managing, with the limited amount of batteries you brought... ;)

'Don't really imagine the old crashed hive ships will ever fly again, but it would be an amusing turn of events, were it to turn out the Thargoids were in actuality pretty much decisively dealt with last time, with what we have met before being the last few dying stragglers, and Salvation's action today woke them back up. :p
Pretty light, either way. :7

It seems Interceptors will still seemingly pay no attention to an SRV, but eventually the scouts arrive, and they do fire at ground targets. :7

They really slathered the VA irish on thick, by the way... :9

A guardian SLF degrades as you approach the site and then pops.
Your guardian modules degrade to 0.
You are constantly harassed as you approach the site by interceptors that continuously ping the energy surge.
The swarms the interceptors release will attack you unlike at the AX sites with cap ships before the events.
You can FA off after boost and ignore the interceptors, but you can't actually get to the site (I was unable to).

Just watched a DTEA stream, you can convert Ancient Relics into green goid relics at the Thargoid sites with active star rooms.

The green goid relics will not function at guardian sites to unlock blueprints.

I doubt the Thargoids could so easily parry the Proteus Wave if they hadn't seen it before. One interesting question will be, did they learn to do that recently through Salvation overusing his system-clearing superweapon, or did the Guardians try this too?

Worth noting, if this is an old anti-Guardian defense mechanism - the surface sites we know were never part of the Guardian war so far as we know. The front lines in that conflict seem to have been in the vicinity of Barnard's Loop. This may be a last-ditch fortification that was aimed at defending their core systems from a major Guardian incursion. If so we should assume that other systems with Thargoid surface structures are similarly defended, and possibly now on high alert. Sounds like they're still accessible though.

Or were they just playing dead and crashing a few interceptors into planets to make it look like the ultimate shutdown weapon actually worked, in order to bait humanity into using it fully in a way they could take advantage of?

I saw a movie about this once, it was called terminator... salvation

The Thargoid bases are seemingly converting the Guardian relics into a different kind of relic after they're plugged in. It's been noted that offering these converted relics to Thargoid vessels elicits the same response as other Thargoid tech. Maybe some kind of adaptive "immune" response to the Guardian devices?

Any word on what happens with keys, orbs, caskets etc? Or just relics?

Also, what do they sell for? :D

Hip 22460 has become first actually really dangerous place in Elite. Anywhere in the system, if you drop to normal space, Thargoids will find you and come, guns blazing.

As for Guardian tech - I know my Guardian FSD booster died, but Guardian Hull Reinforcements do not get damaged, which is interesting. I wonder what happens to Guardian Power Plant or distributor?

I'm in system with that stuff... I'll let you know later tonight... because, well...

Yes... six hours later...

Nice. Fortunately, I'm in the right ship to be faffing around with this sort of thing... which unfortunately includes a host of guardian fittings including the GPP. just gotta get out of HIP22460 quickly XD
I didn't find the integrity dropped incredibly fast on the PD/PP. But yeah, you wont be checking out all the local highlights :)

Anyone checked if trying to turn in the converted Guardian relics does anything? Or placing them in Guardian Sites?

Plan at the moment is:
  • Go past Shinrarta to refit a bigger cargo rack
  • Go through Guardian site to taste the rainbow of guardian items
  • Go fetch Probe/Link/Sensor and Resin etc.
  • Go fetch a meta alloy
  • Play around at a goid site with the items
  • Take anything back to Meene/elsewhere
  • Repeat above for a relic to get a vid of Thargoid reactions to the fused Guardian/Thargoid tech.
Stretch goal for tissue samples and hearts.

Secondhand information, but a streamer I was watching today claimed that the gPP doesn't decay below 50%. Which makes sense, it's one thing to disable Guardian weapons, but rather worse to auto-explode players who happened to equip a module.

Pretty sure both my PP and PD ended up near 30% 🤷‍♀️

The galactic average for them is peanuts, roughly 4k. But both Ram Tah and Palin are paying a little over 1m for them. Can't trade them on carriers because they're not in the commodity list.

Tried sticking one in a guardian site but it didn't take it. Nothing else seemed new out there, obelisks still cycling, sentinels are finally able to missile again.
