Post-Salvation Stuff (The spoiler thread)

I hate editing this over and over but I did find an ancient image of a barnacle site:

Notice the lack of "goo" at the bottom. Everything used to be nice and neat.
The key for me here is observing other graphics in the game. There's been numerous whole-of- game- affecting graphical updates since then resulting in all sorts of changes.

  • the Thargoid scan beam has gone through multiple iterations
  • thargoid interceptor colourtion and effects have changed wildly although maintained the same core behaviours (flashing red, green, or nothing at all)
  • thargoid shield deployment animation has changed repeatedly
  • guardian ruins detail has enhanced drastically
  • guardian keys are now black instead of blue
  • colouration and detail of human, thargoid and guardian wreckage has changed drastically.

I really just think it's, as the graphics engine has changed and enhanced, the art team have just improved the art and taken advantage of new capabilities.

Even parked away from the star (a few ls - same system) it's pretty difficult to see there is anything special - you can just make it out I think at full zoom:

I reckon the technical term for the discovery method is probably 'shenanigans' ...

Not particularly surprising, but I pointed my FSS in the direction of the bubble from out here and didn't pick up any unusual noises. Wonder how far back it can be heard from?

I couldn't hear it from near HIP 22460 (I hear it fine in the actual system).

I also didn't spot the anomaly from any of the FC jumps on the way there. I do wonder if the people who report they can are trying to give credibility to the idea it was found legitimately. (Or maybe they just have better ears / eyes :) )

No shenanigans I was watching the stream.
The sequence of events was as follows agaik : a commander was out running a deep space training run with members of their squadron? on Monday, they were going to reveal on their own stream on Tuesday, however 1 member hadn't turned off EDSM and a Hyperdiction set off the Canonn alert bot. This was ofc picked up very quickly!

The first streamer to be alerted was Malic _VR. You can check his twitch stream from Tuesday 30th August at approx 20.30 UTC. This was the first ,apart from a Twitter feed view of the anomaly.
I was watching the stream as everything unfolded.
So no shenanigans, a bit of serendipity perhaps, like finding Jacques well before time. I hope the original discovery is awarded, Malic was at pains to give credit.
The sound part, which I will describe as the last part of the Roar, complete with clicking was discovered later via FSS

The thing that made me and everyone else amused was the number of Palpatine memes from Arf during the investigations :)

There are absolutely shenanigans afoot. I don't think it's a coincidence that an "anonymous source" tipped off the same commander who also had their game invaded not once but twice (the second time while running a multi-crew session with several other streamers in a private group) by somebody flying the unreleased mamba light and panther clipper ships.

It's really not though, because it hasn't significantly made any progress over 12 hours. It looks like it's moving if you watch it but resets position when you jump.
Skybox limitation I suspect. However stationary next to the star you can watch it move which due to its triangulated position gives you a measure of the implied speed. We will see tomorrow.

Sure, we will see tomorrow - at tick, when its position gets manually adjusted.
It's been "moving" for over 24 hours now, at various reported speeds from 420,000lys to 0.66lys but still seemingly hasn't travelled past one single system.

Do you have proof of that? In my honest opinion I don't actually care.
