Post the *worst* thing you've done or participated in inside the ED universe?

I had to get this off my chest sooner or later. I did it and I feel bad about it.

I murdered hundreds of sick, innocent civilians fleeing a viral outbreak in a couple of random systems in the bubble. I did it because the T9 ships being used to transport them carried sweet, sweet combat materials and doing it this way was faster than USS searching.

So for at least 30 minutes, I blew their ships up repeatedly. I felt bad, guys. I knew they just wanted to be safe. I knew they were already victims once, forced to leave home, maybe having lost loved ones along the way. As I put them in my crosshairs and brought my many guns to bear on their unsuspecting, largely unprotected formations, I was reminded of the BBC series Planet Earth and I suddenly a kinship to a lioness laying stalking a caravan of gazelle from a bush, offering no regard or quarter for the soon-to-be life lost, chops licking looking forward to a fed family. And those of us with lots of engineered ships (I just finished my last G5 on ship #25) understand how much it takes to feed those mouthes.

But as much as I felt like a predator from an animal documentary, I am alas not an uncaring animal and so indifferent to the kill as those lesser beings. This was months ago and it still bothers me that I did it. Don't get me wrong: I've blown up many transport ships in my day (most flying around Nav beacons) and for the same reasons (Engie mats)...but this felt different. I feel like I sought out the most helpless and in need, many of those ships failing to provide me with the material I needed at all making them unnecessary casualties. I quietly apologized for each ship along the way that fell to my rails and incendiary munitions.

I still feel bad. I didn't have to do it (there are other ways to get those mats) and hadn't done it before I tried it a couple of months ago, after I had already completed 22 or 23 G5 engineered ship projects. It was a shortcut for the last few mods on the last few ships. My desire to get those last ship modifications done quickly lead me to some morally repugnant decisions resulting in the murder of hundreds.

Thats my story and I am a bad person. What's the worst you've done, CMDR?

Back when you could run massacres outside of the CZs, I would buzz around surface ports and take out trade and passenger ships.

No regrets. I'm a monster and I like it.

I downloaded the Engineers update.
All I can hope for now is some exploration content and that the friggen bulletsponged AI pimpships leave me be, because there is no way I'm rolling and I haven't found a way to remove the update.

Actually, I had the same experience as yourself. Only I didn't get anything out of it.

Was trying to get dem sweet G5 FSD mods and starting burning the outbreak T9s into space dust. Only I guess at this point they've patched this, because they didn't drop a single mat.

I still continued to decimate them. Then the cops showed up, so I continued to burn them and the cops.

The sinister satisfaction in melting mass quantities of a huge, lumbering, soft targets...

Not the worst thing I've done, but one of the funniest:

Pulled a T-6 at a CG for piracy, guy curses at me and tries to run, so I disable his drives and he is spinning wildly out of control. He continues to rant and rave at me, while also mentioning he has no cargo. Sure enough it's true, and I tell him that he could have saved himself a lot of trouble by telling me so at the start and letting me check. More swearing starts, and I reach the point where I consider blowing him up for being rude, when he demands I send out a repair drone.

I told him I would help him fix his drives at that point if he apologized.

I don't know how long he was left spinning when I waked out, but needless to say he didn't apologize and I didn't tell him what reboot/repair was.

I cleansed hundreds of security ships and other civilian traffic to show ruling factions the error of their ways.

It was not murder. It was social medicine.

I once participated in a CG that was in direct conflict with Imperial orders, siding with the Federation. I disagreed with the representative of the Empire in this particular case and transported goods for the Federation instead.

Also wedding barges have come under the wrath of my weaponry at least once. I had (un?)reliable intel that a fugitive of the Empire was on board. Civilian casualty was, unfortunately, necessary collateral.

NINJA EDIT YOU DIDN'T SEE NUFFING!

i'm currently flying around with a 1,8 mio bounty on my head, which all come from shooting non-wanted ships in a system which i helped preparing for a directed expansion and a control conflict soon.

i have done system security kills before, but never traders and miners of all factions in such numbers and insistence, and i even build a ship for that (if you happen to have problems finding targets in a res, give a class longrange sensors a try).

i think, that's pretty much the worst thing i have done till now.
