Roller Coasters Post you coaster cam videos here

Just a thread for everyone to post there coaster cam videos.

I'll go first, here is the very first coaster I have build it has some miner flaws here and there but not too shabby for a first attempt if I say so my self.

Not the best coaster you will see but I'm happy with it for my first attempt. [big grin]

1) I hope we will get custom supports soon. The auto-generated supports look kinda wrong. It isn't like the early RCT games but still, they look a bit wrong. I hope we can do custom supports at one point as this would make the coasters way better. [big grin] Especially if you share them. Gotta have realistic supports.

2) And please guys, dont make chain lifts in a turn, coasters dont work like that. And apply some block brakes so you can run multiple trains and the coasters wont reach too many G's so the riders would die. Please learn a bit from existing coasters so you get the idea how gravity, momentum and G-forces work. Because this hurts to watch. [mouth shut]

3) Also are we gonna get loading/unloading animations soon? Right now the guests just spawn into the cart, it would be cool to see them walk on the station towards the carts.[yesnod]

First Coaster

Haven't got the bandwidth for uploading videos, but some screenshots of my first coaster. It is a copy of the Hulk at Universal Islands. Impressed with the controls for building, just need to be able to vary the size of the loop assets (which you cant yet). The track building does let you build some things (like zero-g rolls) using the banking controls.

Had to compromise in 3 places, the two underground sections don't as you can't do this yet in alpha. The first loop is far too small. I had to bodge the lift hill as the booster at the top of the lift doesn't work and the train doesn't get the speed needed to enter the zero-g loop.

Correct Lift hill version:

1 & 2: The coaster builder is only in the Alpha as kind of a "sneak peek" of what the future holds and is very much a work in progress, and they have staed as much many times. Block brakes, correct supports, et cetera will be coming in the future. By the way, it's really humorous of you to tell the devs to "learn a bit from existing coasters." Frontier's team is the best team in the world for designing these games. They know much more than you about how coasters work and have devoted many, many years to the study of them. Have faith in Frontier, and be patient.

3. My understanding is there will be no boarding animations, as there are simply too many different ride types and ways of boarding them, that the amount of different animations required would be astounding.

And here's a curved lift hill with chain:

Edit - for some reason it only uploaded with 360p... guess the quality looks good enough.

Anyways enjoy!

sorry for the misunderstanding but learn from existing coasters was meant for the people in this thread, not the devs obviously. I wouldnt dare. And I am pretty sure they know how it works [big grin]

cool i didnt know you had chain lifts in turns, i thought only with friction wheels. Curious how that works then

shame we dont have boarding animations, but hey you cant have it all. If its impossible to make then its impossible

As I said in another thread, the coaster build was locked behind a cheat code, this was to emphases that this feature was not ready for public consumption, so allot things missing and mention in this thread as well could be in the future. Just saying, hard to criticize anything that was given to us way before it was ready. Nice gift if you ask me.

Exactly it is obviously not ready to the point they were even ready to put in in to testing in the alpha so i'm am holding off from complaining or mentioning anything that I think needs improving until its properly in the alpha, we should just be happy with what we have.

I mean it's an alpha and the coaster creator let you do lot of thing actually.
The vekoma Coaster look almost smoother than in real life ! [haha]

Made a proper coaster and did a proper video of it - enjoy :)
(It's half offride, half POV)

Still some seem very bumpy to me, i dont know how to explain, not smooth enough or something. Maybe im very picky cause I spend hours in NoLimits2 fine-tuning turns etc but it looks a bit abrupt. Like if it were real your bones would break. Or at least you get hurt. Its mostly on the 1st person on-ride view that it looks way too bumpy and pully

Oh this one is very well made. Looks very realistic. Even the fpv onride view. Good to know that realistic coasters are possible. I guess I got scared that realistic wasnt possible because I saw so many neck-breakers in this thread but yours looks very smooth. Compliments to you

I've spent hours in NL2, I think it's fantastic. You can't expect it to be anywhere near as smooth because you can't edit as much, but the Smooth button works very nicely. It's a massive improvement from the grid system anyway.

no i was talking about the coaster vids before, then i saw your vid and edited my post. Yours looks very well made yes, i was scared that realistic wasnt possible for a moment because everybody posted very bumpy deadcoasters but yours looks really smooth

The faster the coaster goes the harder it is to be smooth i think. But even with the alpha build the coaster editor is very powerful et with small adjustments it will be perfect for me. If we could have an "auto smooth" button it would awsome !
