Ships Post your ship collection here

So does anyone else end up collecting ships in Elite?

So far I've got
Sidewinder (the original one)
Eagle
Imperial Eagle
Imperial Courier
Imperial Clipper
Federal Assault Ship
Anaconda

sold due to financial reasons
------
Adder
Viper
Cobra
T-6
Asp
Vulture
Python

Planned future Purchases
----------
FDL
ASP
Cobra
Cobra MK IV
Viper MK IV

I have flown all the ships in the game except the new horizons ones.
Of all I discarded there are some that I didn't like.

I think I had an Adder once. I believe everyone else does ask the same question :D
The T-6 was a faithful companion until I got an ASP.
The T-7 was good until the Python arrived.
The T-9... Heck. I flew it only for a short while. Anaconda does the best trading now.
Federal Drop Ship. Too slow and cumbersome to fly in for my style.
Federal Gunship. Again, not my cup of tea.

Every other ship I have it stored some place. Either for sentimental reasons - the case of the Python, ASP and Anaconda for instance - or utilitarian; the hauler makes a great taxi and the sidewinder makes a great map bookmarker.
I have a Viper near a HAZ RES that I fly into sometimes. I still hop into the Diamondbacks because they're really fun to fly in.
And the imperial ships also leave me with a sweet taste every time I fly them. They're great to fly in, loads of fun in the imperial Eagle, look nice, sound impressive.
Oh and the Federal Assault Ship, Vulture, Fer deLance, I could never get rid of them.

My next ships will be the Cobra Mk IV and the Viper Mk IV.

Have you tried the Clipper? That thing feels like being inside the cockpit of a Boeing 747
The Conda feels more like one of those huge cargo ships that cross the Atlantic regularly.

Sidey (I think, somewhere)
Viper (A-rated, take it out when I want to try something fast again)
DB Scout (general runabout that's fun to fly with good range, great for long-distance missions and smuggling)
Asp Explorer (exploring, obviously)
Vulture (combat, though mostly use the FAS now)
FAS (combat combat combat)
Python (trading/shipping CGs & mining)
Type 7 (whenever I wanna feel like a trucker. Where's my Yorkie?)
Clipper (bought one, but hardly ever have flown it. I'm still not Baron, so I don't feel like I deserve to..)

The only ship I want to buy is the Fer de Lance, but can't really afford it at the moment. Looks great, sounds great, and with the recent changes sounds like a beast.. Other than that, I don't want anything else. I'd be most interested in a high-speed, long range craft with minimal or no shields, weapons and little cargo space. A Millennium Falcon style blockade runner.

Ships I own and have no intention of selling:

Sidewinder (original one, never got it blown up so I kept it for sentimental reasons)
Cobra Mk.III Barracuda also kept for sentimental reasons.
Asp Explorer Nostromo - currently returning from a 2 month exploration expedition aboard this ship.
Imperial Clipper Adriatic - currently docked deep in imperial space. This is my go-to bubble ship when I don't need to go to outposts, which is most of the time :)
Imperial Courier Starling - bought for fun and to visit outposts when needed. Great little ship to fly.

Ships I've tried temporarily for specific tasks (CG / taxi / whatever)

- Hauler, I often buy one if I need to taxi without moving my current ship I wish to keep;
- Eagle, just taxied in it once because I never flew it before;
- Adder, ditto;
- DBS, ditto;
- Type 6, only bought it for the Hutton CG and sold it afterwards.

Planned purchases:

- Anaconda, for the Distant Worlds expedition. Will see what I'll do with her after the trip is done.
- Imperial Cutter, for when I finally decide to get my trading rank up one day.
- Fer-de-Lance, especially since they're improving on it recently, and I always wanted to try it, just haven't gotten around to it yet.
- Cobra Mk.IV - though it's stats are a bit disappointing, it's a Cobra so I want to try it out for myself.

Flown all and I'm down to the two ships I currently think cover all bases;

1. Anaconda (ISS TERRA NOVA): trade fit and explorer fit (swap between the two).
2. Federal assault ship (ISS BULLDOG): A specced Bounty hunting/PP undermining/Long range assassinations.

Additionally:

3. Cobra MK IV when I get it.
4. Original Sidewinder (ISS BLUE ANGEL): used as a maxxed range intra bubble taxi.

Newman, do you have detailed stats of Cobra IV?

Ships I own currently:
- Original Sidewinder (sentimental value)
- Cobra (sentimental value)
- Asp (currently outfitted for mining CGs, eventually for exploration)
- Viper (bought and kept at Kaushpoos for the combat CGs)
- Vulture (general combat missions)
- Imperial Clipper (sentimental value)
- Python (main trader)
- Various Sidewinders and Haulers for taxiing

Ships I've owned but sold:
- Adder (stepping stone to Cobra)
- T6 (sold because original 1.4 interdictions made flying it annoying)
- Various Sidewinder and Hauler taxis

Eagle for stunts in stations and asteroid fields/rings.
ASP Explorer for light trading and missions.
Anaconda for heavy trading and heavy combat.
Imperial Courier because its awesome.

I have like 3 o 4 Cobras in several stations for taxi.

Had a bunch of other ships that I sold for economic reasons.
But gonna repurchase for Horizons the Fer de Lance and the Federal Assault Ship. Maybe I will get a Python again for armored smuggling missions. Who knows.

Original Sidewinder
Freagle, still in it's original packaging (completely unboxed)
Viper
Cobra
Type-6
Asp
Asp (fitted for exploration)
Vulture
Imperial Courier
Python
Fer-De-Lance

Sure I'll bite.

Current
-------------
- FdL : Bounty hunting, Assassination, pirate hunting, small skirmishing ship.
- Vulture : Combat Zones
- Imperial Eagle : Light bounty hunting or assassination. sometimes the FdL is just overkill for what I want to do
- DB Scout : Undermining, long range combat 'stuff'
- Anaconda: Trading
- Python: Mining
- Asp Explorer: Exploration / Long range trading and smuggling
- Imperial Clipper: Pirate ship

After Horizons
---------------------
- Imperial Cutter: Trade. Will likely sell the Anaconda for this
- Viper Mk IV: I'm getting it for free so I don't know what I'll do with it. Might replace my DB Scout.
- Cobra Mk IV: Likely a long range pirate ship. We'll see how it performs.

The Cobra mk4 is available in the current 1.5 beta at Founders, however the news isn't good A grade thrusters push it along at around 150 m/s (2 pips) boosts to about 330 and Asp level agility, it has the same power and PD as the mk3 (for 5 weapons) max range around 20 LY cargo 60 - 70 T, I'd but the Keelback (with the trick Serenity thruster pods) rather the mk 4's current spec :(

That's a shame. I really was hoping for a Cobra to beat the beautiful original.
How disappointing. Oh well thanks for your info bud.
They need to put the Cobra IV build on coriolis.

Yeah it's a bit disappointing, I was expecting a slower heavier ship but the current build isn't going to win many admirers, the Asp scout is a much better ship (needs a little more speed) but it flies superbly and has a decent power plant and PD.

PS there was an update to 1.5 so it might be worth checking out the mk 4 again

PPS Actually forgot my ship list

Sidewinder (lots as place markers)
Viper
Cobra mk3
Asp Explorer
Vulture
FDL
FAS
Python

Ships I'll probably be adding

Asp scout
Viper mk4
Cobra mk4 (assuming it gets a speed upgrade!)
Keelback (for the Serenity thrusters)
DBS (built and sold several but never got round to adding one to the "fleet")

Not into the the big rigs so the Python is my "large" armed trader

MkIV is still not on Coriolis, which is a shame, but from what I am reading on the Beta forums it isn't going down well at all.

Best description I heard of it was:

"Poop wrapped up in glossy wrapping paper".

I've not even got one yet and I am already swayed to avoid. I am hoping that FD have made such a hash job of it this is why its not appeared on Coriolis. Which leads me to hope FD will fix it before release.

Currently Own:
Type 6
Type 7 (Current Ship)

Ultimate Goal:
One of each multi crewed ships and every Lakon

Not many compared to the gazillionaires, but here:
Asp
Vulture
Cobra
Python
Anaconda

Deciding on FAS or FdL, will await 1.5 release before making a decision.

Currently own:
Orca (trade, style)
Fer-De-Lance (Combat, style)
Adder (cheap long-ish jump range ship to get from one ship to the other)

Previously owned: (as chronologically ordered as I can remember!)
Sidewinder
Adder
Viper (first bit of combat/ bountyhunting in this, was really fun)
Type-6
Cobra mk-3
Eagle
Vulture (got me back into bounty hunting, a great ship)
Fed Dropship (was my main "goal" for a while because I liked how it looked, when I finally bought I just didn't like it unfortunately!)
DB Explorer (amazing ship)
Asp Explorer ( ^)
Imperial Courier (made me turn to the imperials instead of Feds!)
Hauler (because I realised I had never piloted one)
Orca (My favourite ship, but traded in for FDL)
Fer-de-Lance (Traded in for Imperial Clipper)
Imperial Clipper (great ship, traded in to fund my current Orca and FDL :p)

Future ships:
Viper mk 4 (when 1.5 is out, in fact when is it going to be released?)
Asp Scout (probably to replace my current adder in its ferrying duties)
Beluga Liner (if it ever comes into the game)

Current:
DB Scout - blast to fly and fight in
Cobra - my old mainstay, could never sell her
DB Explorer - Exploring and smuggling
FAS - Combat
Python - Cargo and some Combat

Ships I've Sold:
Sidey
Hauler - still fly for taxi purposes
Asp - couldn't take that horrible noise it made, it's like a Cessna in need of a tuning
Viper - Stepping stone to Vulture
Vulture - May buy back, as I miss fighting in her.

Thinking of buying an FDL now, because the changes now make it work the purchase. I have no interest in buying anything bigger than a medium pad ship, as I love flying too much.
