Regardless of ship variants being added or not, I thought it would be good fun to make our own. The rules are as follows.
1) Balance : To get something you must give something, we are still working with the same ship chassis and rules as current ship models, if you want more speed youll need bigger engines, for that youll have to decrease something to make space for it.
2) Hard Points : gonna play it fast here. One Huge point = 2 large. One large = 2 medium. One medium = 2 small. I know this method isnt exactly sound, but for simplicity its how well do this. Also, you can only down or upgrade a hard point by one size. Use common sense, ie no eagle with a huge point ( altho one may be quite fun).
3) Were not playing with absolutes for the most part so have fun! Keep in mind that graphic alterations need to be kept minimal. Different stock paint is acceptable. But lets try not to over use black and red.
And here is my example.
Fer De Lance : Halberd variant.
Hard Points : 3 large, two on the sides and one beneath.
Performance : Armor and shields take a hit but in its wake a stronger and more robust FSD is added (24 LY max jump) and a slight increase to agility due to the lighter chassis.
Purpose : A further aftermarket conversion to the venerable Fer De Lance makes it a true bounty hunter able to not only follow but catch and destroy its target. Some pilots lament the loss of quad rail cannons and still use the stock variant.
In closing, were not trying to make super ships here. Keep the tone down. Imagine why your variant would exists, what purpose would it fill? Other than that have fun and feel free to submit as much as you like!
