Posting Elite screen captures from PS4

Can the collective community please let me know how best to post from the PS4 once the game is live.

Either I am being thick (quite possible) or I am missing something obvious, but

It doesn't appear possible to include screen captures as pictures within the in-console browser.
Sony only appear to allow sharing to Facebook, twitter or USB.
Similarly, video captures are locked to Youtube, Twitch or USB.

Am I going to have to daisy chain uploads through a PC / laptop before I can share? (At least I know how to do it via PC / laptop - don't get me started on IOS devices such as iPhone or iPad with their assumption that they know which format of picture I want without asking me)

Maybe USB storage on something that's available to Windows via LAN? Like a tablet or something?

I'll give it a try when I get home.

If you can transfer images from PS4 to a flashdrive via USB, you can transfer them from there on to any device I think.

To where? This forum? It's not going to be simple. I think the easiest way would be to twitter and then to save that from your device (computer, laptop, tablet, phone) and upload to Imugr and then post on here. You have to go to the advanced section for a post and use the Imugr tags. It's a complete PITA, but you can just upload pictures to here. I can understand why though as all those high res images are going to wreck the server. It's just a shame Imugr doesn't connect to anything like IFTTT or Zapier as then you could workflow it. I have toyed with the idea of a wifi USB stick, but I think just sending it to twitter and then picking it up from there is probably the easiest way.

That is my point. I am being too thick to work out how to do it from within the console. All methods I can think of are at least two stages.

E.g. Console to Facebook to download to PC / laptop to repost or console to USB to upload to site (via said PC / laptop).

It all seems a bit un-intuitive for late 2000s

Not being thick mate, it's just not been implemented well. I just tried the browser on the PS4 on the off chance you could get to the bit that had your screenshots/vids in. Nope.

USB to a PC seems the best option, then a photo service like imgur or photobucket.

You could set up a dedicated Twitter account but you need to mess about to get the uncompressed image.

Maybe you can share them on Facebook from the console, then link to the Facebook picture on the forum.

I've nearly pulled the trigger on this a couple of times but I am guessing I would have to copy it from the capture gallery first to the USB stick...

Yeh. You just copy them from the PS4. It's probably what I'll do. Not very intuitive. I have never tried using the PS4 to connect directly to my photobucket account in the browser. I might try it. Not very hopeful but I'll try it next time I am on the PS4.

I tried 'browse' on Imugr and it just said 'this feature is not supported'. I fancy it's the DRM tie down on the PS4. It there is any way into the file system that's not totally locked down, then some enterprising soul could use it as an exploit. Yeah, ridiculous I know but that's how people jailbreak stuff.

I take it you have a smart phone?

Install the PS4 community app...
Then install Imgur...

Create your own community which is basically for you to post your screen shots into,
Then save the photo onto your phone library.
Then upload to imgur take the link from the picture and post it in the URL for the image on here.

I'm much more likely to go via Twitter. Imugr has an API so I can tag something in twitter, get Zapier to pick that up and then hopefully automatically upload it to Imugr.

i have never tried any sort of screenshot/video uploading, but to be honest i think the whole thing is complicated which means if i find something unique i will never have proof i found it :(

The uploading is a pain, but getting the screenshot is easy; just use the Share button on your DS4. Set it to 'Easy screenshots' in the settings and then just press it when you find something. It will automatically be saved to your PS4 then we can help you upload it =]
