posting routes..

Seriously, please stop posting the luxury routes on the forums and screwing them up for people who legitimately find them. When you do this it creates a zergfest of players and they dry up ten times faster.

That's the modern way, I'm afraid.

In the time before everyone was connected, all the time, the Rare Goods mechanic would be a thing of beauty and a joy forever. It's reduced to something each newbie gets a copy of, even with a map, which drains all the fun and awe from it, IMHO.

I remeber when I used to draw the Legend of Zelda map with pen and paper...

SCREW YOU INTERNETS YOU RUINED EVERYTHING

Got to remember that the Forum is like your local pub. After a pint or two you get the measuring sticks out...

Agreed, and it shows something else- a mechanic from 84 doesn't work in 2014. Maybe the static rare thing needs rethinking and be, you know, more dynamic? More depending on players, their action, and other things? Then again it makes no difference currently as the only outcome is more credits faster, or more credits faster later.

What is this ez mode you speak of?

I currently haul palladium from MANATHAJERI system to LA TENHA, selling it at the big station and bringing back resonating separatrons with every trip. 1000cr/ton profit each way. I welcome you all to share this great and profitable route.

Except they don't dry up at all because if you wait ten minutes the commodities market refreshes to its original state.
Gotta love the phantom fear of losing a perceived advantage posts.

If you (the OP) enjoy finding these routes yourself, isn't it better that it dries up and you are not left grinding the same route for weeks? Then you can go find a new one… =)

Indeed, the background simulation either is not there, or is just broken elsewise.

Personally I believe it's just not even implemented yet, there's only an illusion maintained by hand :p

I LOVE the fact that we now have a group of a couple hundred commanders swarming from system to system chasing luxuries like a group of drunken sailors on their first shore leave in 6 months! Brawling, trading, and general confusion makes for some really good times in open!

I would prefer a community that shared information with each other. Helping each other.
I kind of felt the same way about the trading sites that helped you find profitable trade runs. I thought they'd ruin the game, they're not what Elite should be. I was wrong.

Did you read that? I just admitted I WAS WRONG.

Sharing information such as where to make good money in the game is exactly what I want from the community. Next time you're struggling, would you prefer people to not help you? Or would you prefer people to want to show you where you can make a few extra credits? Why do you want to keep it all for yourself? Isn't that a little selfish?

I though rare spawns as a limit per player and didn't chance based on supply/demand

Anyway the most common elite trading tool has them all listed!!!!!

What with people posting routes, it allows space ner-do-wells to lurk in wait for all the fat juicy ships laden with goodness

these arent rares there better then rares

Before the first nerf rares were better for ships up to Asp size (about 4-6M per hour in Asp, with some reporting up to 9M). Also a benefit rares still have is that they increase faction rep and trader rank.

(And a wholly subjective benefit is that rare trading is way more fun and eventful since you get to travel 160+ LY one way.)
