How many people would participate in a small expedition to the crab nebula? Locations haven't been decided but there will be several nebula visits and we will travel all the way to the Crab Nebula were the expedition will continue to see how far we can get out.
New players will be able to participate as it isn't that far from the "bubble" however the journey will gradually become hard as star density drops the further we head out.
If everything goes to plan and we have enough willing participants to partake in the journey then we will start taking names and begin working on the journey.
The expedition will be after Distant Worlds Expedition so people in DWE can participate also to give us a chance to take names and plot our route out into the abyss!
Please comment and say if you would participate in the expedition!

I've been doing similar, though I only have a jump range of up to a little over 15 LY, so some things are cut off from me.

I found the Crab Nebula reasonably tricky to get into with 25ly jump range... Good luck, I hope you find a way in.

I'm definitely up for it when I get back from DWE :D The closer distance would probably be appealing to players who didn't have the time/stamina to go to Beagle Point.

As someone who missed Distant Worlds, this interest me immensely. Looking forward to having something to try out the DBX with, not to mention properly explore for the first time :D

I've been hoping someone would make this kind of proposal...

Consider me interested.

We at Distant Worlds salute you and wish you the best of luck. We look forward to seeing your results, friendships, discoveries and lots. If you need anything from us, let us know!

Oh hey, neat! The Crab nebula is a good place to see, and once you're there, you might wish to return to the galactic plane, visit the lesser-known NGC 1931 nebula and then head farther south. You can cross the inter-arm gap if you have T1 boosts, and then reach the NGC 1893 cluster, then venture farther south. Ironically enough, the near galactic rim is far less well-trodden than the far. The last time I was there, the "-15k meridian club" (15k ly south) appeared to have five members, including myself.
Anyway, I might be interested in joining up too, but I think that a June departure is too far for me to decide yet.

Definitely interested, as I have some friends who are interested in getting into the game. I'll see if I can get them to come along :)
