With the introduction of the "legacy skins", as they are currently called, I wonder whether or not if a something similar mechanic is being made for the varying Jurassic World designs for some of the dinosaurs in the JW trilogy saga? If there isn't anything similar being made for the other JW film series designs for the 1.12 update, then I would likely post it in an idea thread myself. But, I at least want to give out something to consider here right now before sharing the thread in the respective forums, only because I think it's really interesting to think about.
For those who don't know, several species in the films series have different designs if you look in the right places, and since this game utilized those designs from the film series (new and, very soon, old), I think this is a good step in the right direction for the possibility to add even more film designs from the JW trilogy saga.
And those species that I think are eligible for this are:
1. Allosaurus: In Jurassic World Evolution, it has a unique adult design, but so does the short film, Battle at Big Rock.
This image I took was from the behind the scenes video for Battle at Big Rock.
2. Baryonyx: In Jurassic World:Fallen Kingdom, the version this game uses, the Baryonyx is designed to match the rest of the atmosphere in the film as a whole aesthetically. But the JW website, now it's own little separate special kind of website, has a design that is kinda like the Suchomimus in model terms, more like what a real Baryonyx would've looked like in life.
3. Pachycephalosaurus: While Pachycephalosaurus did appear briefly in Jurassic World, it uses what I presume is a similar design as the ones from The Lost World: Jurassic Park. In the website however, the Pachycephalosaurus is shown to have a different kind of design, also made by the same paleoartist I presume.
4. Parasaurolophus: Again, like the Pachy as above, the Parasaurolophus has a design on-screen in Jurassic World that matches the Para from The Lost World Jurassic Park. While the Parasaurolophus from the website has a different unique design from the same paleoartist.
Imagine adding the savannah gene to this design, and giving the body a black and white look to like it look like a zebra (the animal where the cosmetic gene comes from), almost? And since it gives the vanilla parasaurolphus a blue back lining, I would imagine the green head being blue!
5. Stegoceratops: During the production of Jurassic World, Stegoceratops was a planned hybrid to be in the film. This idea was purposefully cut in order to make the Indominus rex feel more special as the only hybrid in the film. Never the less, a complete full-fledged model was made for it. While a living Stegoceratops never made it to the film, the very same model type was featured on-screen on a computer monitor. Now, I'm not sure if the owners of the design would allow Frontier to use it at this point in time, but it would be really cool if they did.
The model itself.
And the model on the monitor in Jurassic World.
Whether or not this is being made for Update 1.12, it's still a really cool subject to talk about. And if this won't be a thing in the next update, I will post it in the ideas forum with a detailed concept once after I observe how the "legacy skin" option works in-game.
What are your thoughts on this?
