Ship Builds & Load Outs Power Distributor: How low can I go?

Looking at a low cost Anaconda build for long range trading. As I use the Corolis site testing various builds I am striving for light weight/max cargo.

The use of D-rated components is obvious for most things as is their effect on your ship performance though I am using an A-rated FSD and a A-rated Power Plant though smaller.

Obvious for everything except the Power Distributor. Even using a D-rated PD at size 8 is a whopping 64 tons. Looking at the in-game outfitting screen does not make all things overly clear soooo...

How low can I go (size-wise) on a PD?

You can fit a 1D distributor, but you won't be able to boost, fire weapons or regenerate shields in less than an hour.

If you really want go get all streamlined and stuff you could do something similar to what I've done with my trade ship.

Lose the weapons and the shields which means you can get a tiny power plant. Doing just this will mean a much bigger jump range and more cargo space. Next up get a power distributor that's one ir two sizes too small to allow you to boost. Nip off to an engineer and get the distributor modded so that it 'engine focused' this will give you the ability to boost back again. Once youve done that set all pips to enigines and a couple in to systems (for chaff etc) and then turno it off once you havea full enginess charge. Your power useage will drop again becuase the distributor is nolonger in a mode to move pips arond. YOu might be abel to take things even further and get and even smaller power plant and maybe even mod that too. Oh and if you have any armour, lose it and get some free alloys and then use the heavy duty armour mod from one of the engineers. This will give you a pretty much totally dedicated light weight trader whcih can be truned in to an amzingly long range explorationship with no hassle.

Ok thanks.
Of course the need to boost and move pips around is a must. As is shield recharge.

Guess when the time comes I will pay closer attention at the outfitting screen and see if I can decipher something.

Actually it turns out the Corolis site does a nice job of side by side comparisons of the PD's. On a phone just put your finger on a module and it pulls the stats up.

And, like most things in the game, you can achieve equivalent performance with a lighter module by going to a higher class.

Of course it drives up ship costs...

Using a 5D on my anaconda with engine focused upgrade. Smallest I could go and still be able to boost. (Drains the whole capacitor in one shot)
