Newcomer / Intro Power distributor 'stripped down' problem

Hello,

I am trying to make my ship faster and i notice that if i install 'Stripped Down' experimental effect on PD (-2T) it won't affect the speed at all... which is very weird, because if i remove (e.g.) 2T fuel tank i get noticeably more speed

Is this a bug?

I think this might be because thrusters have a minimum/optimum/maximum ship mass.
Have a look on Coriolis.
(I'm no expert).

If your total mass is lower than the thruster minimum mass, lowering it will not do anything.

For some ships, like the sidewinder, this actually means you can equip quite a lot of things and still get out maximal thruster performance.

Coriolis to theorycraft builds or you'll burn through lots of mats - especially when you get to the extremes like lightweighting the vulture.

I think you guys didn't read the post?
He says that 2 tonnes lighter PD doesn't have an effect on his speed but shaving 2 tonnes elsewhere does.
I don't think it's a thruster OM issue.

OP - if you can, try taking the ship for a spin with both PDs and measure the REAL speed. Maybe it's just a bug in outfitting UI. It's not always reliable when comes to these numbers.

I tried messing around with a Vulture in Coriolis to see if I could duplicate this and after setting it up as close as possible to the one shown in your picture the biggest speed change I can get by removing 2 tonnes is about 1m/s.

Now the only way to drop 2 tonnes with the fuel tank is to start with a size 2 tank and swap it for a size 1 which will possibly not let you jump anywhere due to lack of fuel which is a high risk strategy for a combat ship as it can cause major issues if things go wrong especially if you shoot the wrong ship.

THIS!
I took it for a spin with and without 'Stripped Down" and there is no speed difference at all.

post the coriolis.io builds not the pictures from the outfitting screen

That is the exact build that i have, hope i linked it ok. corolis.io does show 1m/s increase in speed with the experimental effect, but i see no change in game

I have standard 8T fuel tank, just added more fuel tanks so i can jump around and engineer the ship

With low-jump ships I either ship the modules I want to engineer or if necessary, transfer the ship to an adjacent ship-yard. Doing the trip in more than 4 or 5 jumps is just a pain to me, I'd rather have the transfer time and go make a coffee or summat. So a 60-odd ly DBx or AspX rather than a 25 (plus a guardian FSD booster) is much less of a pain.

I think my limit for making the journey these days is a mission-python which manages 40ly with a guardian booster. Maybe I'm just awkward. ;)

As long your total Mass is bigger than the engines minimum mass, every ton added or removed will have an effect on speed and maneuverability
For example, your Vultures 5A drives have a minimum mass of 368 tons while your Vulture has 386 tons total mass. If you want to get most of it, lightweight the reactive armor - your mass will drop to 367t and your speed and maneuverability will be maxed
