Power Lords are greedy!!!

So I have to risk my life and my beloved Imperial Clipper integrity for a miser 100Cr per kill while I'm spending lots of money in ammo and repairs to please and serve my Power Lord???
This way I have to split my time in power play to earn merits and in grinding to earn money I lost while powerplaying.
Couldn't it be more fair that I earn combat bonds or rewards even when fullfilling power play tasks?!?

undermining.. killing 100 haulers will net you 5 mil per week :)

If you're doing PP for cash, you're doing it wrong. Beside.. at Rank 5 you get free millions... quite nice reward. So... I suggest you keep on playing what you were before PP came out.

Gosh!!! RICH!!! I'm really really rich indeed!!!

Yeah, either you missed the memo, or just want to complain about it. Here it is in case you missed it...

MEMORANDUM FOR ALL COMMANDERS

POWER PLAY IS A MONEY SINK.

END OF MEMO.

I can have it emailed to you if it will help.

I'm not doing PP for cash but I would like to earn cash enough at least to cover expenses and totally dedicate my time to it instead of splitting my time between either PP or grind.

Rank 5 is 10K (tenthousand!!!) merits. Assuming I make 1 kill per minute (less time for eagles but far more time for condas) I'm taking 10000 minutes=166,67 hours= 7days' play without nor sleeping nor eating neither living at all and, when I finally reach the 10000th merit, the rollover day comes and my merits are halved and I have to start everything from the beginning.

So... I suggest you keep on playing what you were before PP came out.

Of course I'm following your piece of advice since I'm sure there are better ways to make people getting involved in PP!!!

lol, so the OP was correct....

I find it a little funny you differentiate PP and "grind" where you're referring to grind as tasks other than grind. PP is the ultimate definition of grind,, and it's actually fun to go back to regular activities to earn cash and flip systems. But that's not what I meant to get at.

Powerplay isn't meant to be something you can do constantly, with the activity itself covering costs. It's meant to be a balance of investing time and currency to further your pledged power, versus taking advantage of the environment created by your power (or other powers). The rank salaries allow you to break somewhat even, but also rely on you sustaining those ranks.

And there lies the problem.

Not doing PP earns you at least 70M a week. doing large trade routes.

If it takes you all week to kill 100 haulers, you're doing it wrong in the first place. But you don't even need 100 hauler kills, it's more like, 40 (with merit decay), and you easily do that in a day. I then spent a very casual six hours of the whole week fighting in a civil war and earning 16m from bonds + mission rewards.

Yeah sure, 16m is less than 70m, but how many hours are you grinding away those trade routes?

Key being, making money while remaining active in PP isn't hard.

If all you're interested in is amassing credits, then yes. If you already have enough credits, then PP offers a different approach to gameplay. As stated so often PP is optional. Blaze your own trail :)

You are doing it wrong then. 1 Kill nets 15 merits when undermining systems. ;)

Yer true, I only have 300M in balance and 200M in assets still need another 300M extra or so to get the combat anaconda fully equipped.
Haven't been playing all that long, so yes I still need to amass those credits :). Trade Trade Trade for me atm :p

Then I will probably be set to do full on PP with a few Hundred mill to push expansions through etc.
Unless they bring out a ship costing 500M and 1B to upgrade. then its Trade Trade Trade again :)
Ooo Ooo or buy a station for 500B. + Commodity Stock Costs.

Honestly, that part is mainly a problem with rare commodities.

Can hardly call those things "rare" when there is a continous influx of those commodities around.

What is needed is to make proper BULK trading a functioning trade - Or missions where we are required to transport 100+ tonnes of goods per trip.

What's the point of having food packages when it is a useless commodity to trade in.

Invest in getting Rank 5.
You will get 50M every week
You will only need about 2000 Merits every week to maintain that status. which is about 20M, so you get a 30M profit.
Merits are worth 10k each, so if you kill a ship and get 15 merits from it, you will be getting 150K CR in merits that you shave off the 20M investment.
At Rank 5 you will also get other benefits from your power to make money faster.

The key is that initial investment, the rest is just money making.

The devs have said that Powerplay is aimed more as an end-game towards the players who already have millions of spare cash, not exactly a way to earn it. Though if you've got limited time to play, killing 100 ships via undermining can potentially pay better than 100 ships from bounty hunting. 100 ships, 15 merits per, 1500 merits will get you 5 million, or 50k per ship. It seems only vipers pay up to that much in RES now, and there aren't any larger ships.
