Power Management Question

So, I'm an old player returning after... probably two years away.
I'm having difficulty with the power management on my Asp. It seems like something has changed but my Google search turned up empty.

My priorities from before no longer seem to be working. It looks like maybe modules that are active but not currently deployed take up power, when I believe before they did not?
I honestly can't remember, but I can't seem to dial in setup that works. I have the usual set to low priority, like cargo scoop and and fsd drive...
Maybe I just turned modules on and off based off of what role I was working on at the time, but even doing that something seems different.

So basically, has anything changed in this area or am I just forgetting how to set it up properly?

Cheers.

Sounds like the latter.

My advice is to turn everything off while docked, then start turning things on in order of priority, keeping in mind the <20% (destroyed PP malfunction), <40% (standard PP malfunction), and <50% (destroyed PP stabilized output) thresholds, adjusting as necessary to keep critical modules functional when the going gets rough.

just check your output and priorities using coriolis.io. It's easier than in-game, but you will have to set up manually the engineered parts in order to have the same consumption.

My usual method for sorting out power requirements is to dock at a station, go to outfitting and remove things like the fuel-scoop, SRV-bay, AFMU, FS Interdictor, mining lasers, wake scanner and put them in storage.
Basically, I'm storing everything that doesn't need to be Priority 1

That'll allow me to see how much juice all the Priority 1 stuff needs and I can ensure my PP can supply at least that amount of power.

I can then bung all the stored modules back on and then ensure they're set to Priority 2 (or lower) or switched off completely until they're needed - in the case of things like the AFMU, wake-scanner or mining lasers.

The AspX doesn't usually have power problems.
When it does, it's usually because you've got things like AFMUs and wake-scanners powered-up all the time, rather than switching them off and only powering them up when you need them.
Alternatively, if it's a combat ship, maybe you've got two SCBs fitted and have them both powered up when you only need to power up one, use it, switch it off and then power up the other one.

Also, I know setting the FSD to priority 2 is an easy way to get a bit of extra juice but I always try to leave it on Priority 1 for quick getaways.

But, yeah.
As has been said, if all else fails, have a play around with your loadout in Coriolis.io to try and figure it out. https://coriolis.io/
If you recreate your ship there and then save it, you can post the hyperlink to it here so people can review it too.
