Power Management

Hello!

I have a couple questions related to the management of power in my ship. I'm currently running an A-kit Viper (everything except the sensors, which are B) and my weapons are 2x gimballed burst lasers C2-f & 2x gimballed MC C2-G. I am thinking about changing my MCs for another pair of (C2) burst lasers.. but I am already at 98% power usage in combat. (100%+ with my cargo scoop enabled) So, what I would like to do is set up a macro or some other thing that lets me toggle power to certain modules (on/off, not pips) when I need to.

So, for example;
Combat = *button*: Cargo scoop unpowered, FSD unpowered, weapons powered.
*button2* = deploy weapons

Then once combat is over I can retract my weapons and hit the power toggle to restore FSD & CS, disabling the weapons. Possible?

Second question: If the above isn't possible.. which I'm thinking is likely.. what is the best way to set priority on the modules so that I can be below 100% power usage at all times?

Thanks in advance. :)

Just change the priority in the module panel (right side). Everything set to priority 2 will switch off when you go over 100% This is usually when deploying weapons so things like Fuel Scoops, interdictors, even FSD cant be used while in normal space with weapons deployed so might has well turn them off to save power. Then when you un-deploy weapons they will switch back on again

That only works if your power usage is over 100% and it *needs* to shut things off though, right? As far as turning off multiple modules at once with a single keypress... I don't think that's possible, though I wish it was. I've wondered about this before too. The only solution I could think of is kind of sloppy. If you have a keyboard with macro keys (or you could do this with Voice Attack) you could set up a macro to open the systems panel, move to the modules tab, and turn things on and off with arrow keys and spacebar. For instance, if I made a macros that pressed: 4 -> E -> E -> Down Arrow -> Down Arrow -> Spacebar -> 4, that would open my modules list, turn off life support, and exit the status panel. Since you can make these execute in milliseconds it does actually work with minimal interruption. I'm actually in the process of making one that shuts off all my priority-3 modules for combat use. If I remember I'll come back here and let you know how well it works.

See above, Shads already answered that question...anything below priority 1 will automatically shut off if when you deploy hardpoints you are above 100% total.
