Power plant damage

Anyone knows at which point a damaged power plant starts to fail? I'm on an exploration trip and my power plant is at 79%, I didn't have any power issue so far, but I don't know if I should go back to repair or keep going...

every percentage of damage gives a small risk of failure per time tick, but I'm pretty certain that it increases exponentially the closer you get to 0%
FYI this is just my experience and not based in statistics.

Modules can begin to malfunction at less than 80%.

When read in this order you have the complete answer. Possible failures start at 80%, increasing in likelihood the more damage you take.

Mine has been at 78% for weeks and not a peep out of it.

BTW only posting this now I've landed and cashing in data...

I think the power plant can only experience a malfunction in the event of taking damage. I don't think I've ever seen even a heavily damaged power plant malfunction spontaneously before.

Nope, had a PP at 63% before and spent 3 months out without any problems, I'd be more worried with a cracked cockpit screen than PP troubles.
