Powerplay Faction: Zachary Hudson Power Play Breakdown- Someone please help me understand

I'm new to the game and to power play. I have reached a rank 3 more than once, but it was simply because the AI was unarmed. Now that they are "fully armed and operational" (movie quote) I have to figure out what the heck is going on in this mode.

Here are my observations and questions from about 4-5 weeks of power play.
1) I have no idea how systems are prepped or even selected for expansion. It seems like the same systems keep coming up when there is an expansion available. Each time the system goal was met, but the system never get s "taken". I'm guessing that something might have been put on hold while the AI was unarmed. Can someone confirm?
2) why are systems being selected that actually cost more than they produce?
3) Why do you have to continuously reinforce systems that you have taken?
I get needing to supply them for support, but indefinitely? You would need a never ending supply chain and as your system control grew you would need more and more people to do it. Given the anemic rate at which you can supply things it doesn't seem feasible to me.

Overall I just don't see any cohesion between goals, strategic planning or execution. SO, I'm figuring there is no way the mode is broke that badly. I have to be missing something.

Help me out please.

Hello Marine,
Welcome to the ship. Sadly I believe PP has become a little broken since the release of 2.1 with a good few grunts abandoning ship, me included. Post 2.1 it has become an even bigger grind to reach your targets, particularly in combat when they increased the capability of NPC AI. A few months ago there were regular updates on strategy etc run by a few dedicated players such as Shepron who obviously have a very good understanding of what appears to be a complex system. (Beyond me.. I just tried to follow orders), however that seems to have died, although they may still be active on Reddit. I posted a thread in here a few weeks ago "Thank You 2.1" relating to relieving me of my duties. It became just a chore trying to maintain weekly targets for say L4 5mil bonus and took a lot of work for that reward, whereas I can now do a 30 minute 10 jump run in my Asp ex for 5 mil, so not a lot of incentive to stay in PP. The devs just seem to have ignored it oddly after all the hoopla of introducing it in the first place. Go figure.

Stay safe and keep your head down sir.

Thanks for the feedback CMDR. Aside from your feedback there is strong anecdotal evidence. This thread for one. It is a ghost town in here. I have connected with a Reddit group and I'll see what they have going on, but even as a bystander I can see that there is next to no impact on the regional galaxy. I should say at least in my neck of the woods. It could be there is a lot happening on border systems.

In any event I'll give it a shot with these guys and see what happens. Safe travels CMDR

Except for a couple of recurring threads here, most of the Power Play conversation happens on either Reddit or on private Discord channels/Trello boards, etc.

Hopefully you can get on with an active group who have an firm grasp on things. Power Play is community driven, and going it alone is just not the same. I'm with the group helping run Torval and I love it.

@Kiwirat: PowerPlay participation as a whole has suffered quite a bit for many powers since 2.1, all organised player groups can still be reached over their reddit presences though. I/we don't post Hudson strategy posts on here right now out of time/personnel constraints. Honestly the FDev forums were never a very busy place when it comes to the PP section and the amount of people we reach here that are not reading reddit or on the FUC is limited.

Hello cmdr TOM USMC,
1) to prepare systems for expansion, the power needs a + of CC income. If it is negative, no expansions can happen. Voting works with preparation. The more prep, the more 'votes'. Preparation is done through bringing expansion pp-papers from controlsystems to the 'new' system.

2) negative systems getting prepped is done by enemie agents who wanna see your power failing, also called 'false flaggers'.
For example, as an empire-loyal pilot going to zachary hudson and preparate the worsest system as much as you can to hurt his power

3) the continously fortification of systems after reaching 100% comes from lazy cmdrs who don't care about powerplay and just wanna have their rating for the pp-modules

I hope thos will help you a little bit

Thanks for the posts and the information. I have reached out to a group on Reddit and hopefully I will see something I have missed. If I don't I'll just move on but it won't be because I bailed on it without giving it the ol' collegiate try.

I wouldn't be put off quite so easily... there's lots going on and it seems to be picking up again slowly now that some of the bugs are finally getting squished...

do come and find us though the Hudson Reddit if you want to get more involved...
