Power play care package management

As I have received more care packages from ranking up in powerplay I have reached a point where my materials inventory has been maxed out. However, having not done on foot game loops very much I am interested in obtaining those materials from the care packages. Was curious if others might be having similar issues and dread the thought of engineering unwanted ships and modules just to move through the care packages. One possible solution would be to use a system similar to the Thargoid war system completion material rewards. If a particular material was full you would miss out on that portion of the reward but any other materials below the max threshold would be added. Hope this idea will be considered.

I had to visit material traders and the bartender to trade up/down to create space to clear outstanding care packages.

My main problem is that as I am not doing much if any engineering, is that I am going to max out.

L46 atm.

So I was going to ask this myself.. yay, search. But ya, I'm fully maxed-out most things I guess. I wasn't planning on mat grinding for a while or doing any engineering. Is the only way to accept these packages is by heading to the mat trader and reducing yer lower grades for grade 5 to free up space?

I haven't done any PP until 2 weeks ago and I have like 20 of the things.. can't cash any of them in currently as I'm full on one or more of the package contents.

I seem to find that I can open any care package and just receive the materials I have room for; the rest stay in the package. Doesn't that get the on-foot materials?

Yes, that is correct. The issue seems to be that at a certain point, you have so many unclaimed (even partially) care packages that you cannot open any further ones. At least that's how I understood people's reports.

Me, I am not completely maxed on materials yet, but I do struggle with one or two materials not being claimable in each care package. So far I regularly shuffle my materials around to make room, and I have not yet run out of engineering projects.

I thought this thread was dead..lol…so yeah, I’m currently rank 573 and I cannot even attempt to open anymore because the game freezes and I have to task kill to get back in. Although I have heard that going to the engineering tab un freezes things. Guess my overall point was that eventually you build such a stockpile that things just become cluttered. Also you have no idea what materials are in what packages. I certainly don’t have hopes that this aspect of the game will get remedied anytime soon and I’m sure their focus is on colonization and upcoming features. Lastly I will say that I like the idea in general. Newer players definitely benefit from getting materials in this way but for long time players I see it as more of a nuisance in its current iteration.

Jesus that's brutal. C'mon Fdev we know yer 'busy' w/colonization, but just put "pin in it for now" mechanic where you can exchange the package for credits or merits.... or... ARX! Yeaaaaah ARX....That's the ticket!

I have done no on-foot fps stuff as yet so I have no mats with regard to that. i have about 15 or so CPs. I have yet to be able to open one of them

I'm now rank 115 or so and I have a shedload of partial care packages to clean up.
I've started the process by offloading some on-foot mats to the bartender and now want to accept a few more of the care packages but to my surprise I can't seem to access the care packages at the on-foot terminal. Is that really a thing? Do I have to run all the way back to the ship to get the the power contact?? 🤦‍♂️

Last I checked, if a care package has excess materials (ie. your inventory is full of that material), you get everything in the package except that excess, which will remain there. Just open the packages and you'll get what you don't have full. The rest will remain there.

Unless they have broken this in a recent update, it should still work.

Yes but there are still some problems with this approach:
1. Several people have found that when the number of care packages gets high enough, you can no longer open that tab at all
2. When you open a package, it sometimes resequences the other packages, so it's deeply painful to work through them methodically to empty them.

For both reasons, I'm hoping to clear my package list completely.

I use a simple spreadsheet to keep track of what is left over in care packages that I haven't been able to claim (in total, not per care package), so when I come across a mat trader I can make room them. Like this...

At this point it's tempting to unpledge and then pledge again to see if that helps with how fast the materials build up. I'm managing mine by constantly going back and forward to the station bars, but it's only a matter of time before I'm bouncing around material traders as well (thankfully the Corsair arrived so I had a reason to burn through some).

I wouldn't mind if it wasn't for the stories about too many breaking the menu.

This is the problem I have. I can’t even access the packages at all. Game freezes when I try…I’ve thought about just unpledging to try and clear them but figured I’d let it ride a bit since I’m doing colonization stuff hoping for a fix.

Yeah, I heard when you get to level 250 or so it gets even more broken.

Finally cleared the care packages. Took the best part of two hours, between hopping around from one material trader to another and running backwards and forwards between the bar and the ship.
TOTALLY AWESOME GAMEPLAY, FD. WAY. TO. GO.

One unexpected upside: while I wasn't looking, the stamina mechanic appears to have been disabled when disembarked on stations, so you can run around to your heart's content without slowing down to a crawl. Yay...

Yes the change to stamina was in the patch notes for the recent update.
