Power Play disappointments...

A couple of thigs that disappoint me about power play is that your weekly assignments are often frustratingly hard to complete. This week, I was tasked with destroying opposing powers in Aquisition systems... I went to every system, (all were in a NONE state) and NEVER say any other power. I went to every type of signal source, mega ship, and anything I could find, never saw an opposing power. I did see and destroy a couple in a fortifying system... Frustrating.

UPDATE:
I don’t know where you are but I’m assuming if you’re in a system under your powers control the distance to the frontline will be a factor in whether you see (m)any enemy ships or not.

I’ve been working a system far from the frontline and never see anything but allied ships and independent ships - I can’t confirm the above as true but assume so from my observations.

When I had weekly missions such as yours I would go to frontline systems and had no trouble finding (or creating using the Nav Beacon drop) enemies to attack.
This worked... Went to an area where 3 powers converged, dropped in on Convoy Dispersal and Power Wreckage signal sources and they spawned. Also, I have an interdictor and sometimes they will spawn at your interdiction site after you drop in. Thanks Rock!

You don't have to complete them apart from the 1st time in order to unlock your ranking up. You still rank up but doing all 5 the 1st time allows you to see your progress, rank.
Apart from that i don't do the 'dailys' as l call em. Im either mining for merits or some other PP task. The missions are a bonus..if l accidentally complete one that's OK but l don't go out of my way to do them.

For destroying rival power ships I find it’s best to sit in the Nav Beacon and scan ships until you find a rival power ship. They generally spawn around 15km from the beacon. They do have a tendency to rabbit so I subsystem target their FSD.
Destroying these ships this way generates a bounty against you but no notoriety. After killing a few, System Authority ships will start attacking so I usually low wake out and back.

This week i had the same assignment, you can complete it even without occuring in bounty or notoriety, use INARA to find a system near your PP border in acquisition, so government: Anarchy (optional), Powerplay state: Unoccupied, Contested (n.b. could be unoccupied without PP activity, that why focus search near border help to find)
An example for LYR

farm at nav beacon the q.ty of enemy you need to complete the assignment.

i did yesterday in an "anarchy unoccupaied in acquisition" in few minutes, no bounty, easy merit gain.

assignment random generation have very bad/wrong parameters atm so happen to have time sinking or "bugged" ones, i just skip and do other PP related activity, more efficient merit/time ratio.

said so, i like alot weekly assignment, just would like a wider choise to mitigate aforementioned problem,

a suggestion could be a wider pool of assignment, ex: "10 assignment, after you have completed 5, the remaining ones are no longer available."

just to skip the bugged one at least.

I started ignoring them, and viewing them as bonus merits, rather than trying to complete them deliberately. Either I'm going to complete them as I work on my strategic and tactical goals, or it's a distraction from advancing those goals.

This video might help you:

Not the merits part of it, but - how to create a PP instance near the Nav Beacon to spawn PP ships.

“Over 50k merits per hour!”
“Low Risk”
“No Exploits!”

Video shows how to exploit the extremely poor NPC spawning logic to farm powerless PowerPlay NPCs.

Didn't seem to spawn Power Ships for me...

Once I figured out what to do, I had an absolute blast doing this one!

these missions could use some attention from fdev fs.
eg being told to flip holos in a system with 2 stations that has been under my powers control for weeks and all of them are permanently set to my power...
as a result unless they directly align with my activities they just dont get completed.
having a little guidance for people who dont do organised powerplay or who are new to the game/system is of course great. but its design completely misses when giving you more missions as you progress. as you progress you get better at navigating the system so there should be less handholding, yet the more you get into your power game, the more the game tends to nudge you towards other places, other activites. just like getting times more mats in packages when you get rank 100. (because thats when you need them the most, right? everyone does the rank 100 in a sidewinder and needs the increased mat rewards to finally engineer their first t6)
the offer and demand just kinda dont meet.
its a very elite dangerous system. it just works, it just serves some purpose and its somewhat functional, so its good. and to be fair, making it really actually useful and accurate would be too complex and indeed be too much of a hussle...
at least we dont have to complete them.
