Powerplay Power Play factions and major faction rank progression

Does anyone know if belonging to a power-play faction inhibits the rank progression of major factions? It is obvious you take constant faction hits by belonging to say Li Yong-Rui (Sirius) as every time you enter a federation or imperial system if you are above x Rep you are automatically decremented some value, but does belonging to a faction outside the major factions prohibit getting the rank missions completely? I had thought to raise my Imperial rank some to have access to the new ships, starting pretty deep into friendly at the rank of serf I spent about 8 hours grinding out missions for Achenar Empire League on Liabeze and was never offered an advancement opportunity.

I was thinking about dropping Yong-Rui, but thought I'd post here and ask first before tossing out that 5m weekly payday to see if anyone had experience gaining rank after joining an outside power-play faction.

No, it doesn't affect your navy rank progression negatively. Nothing does.

As Apos said, the hidden rank statistic that unlocks naval progression missions can only go up. Nothing you do will take away from it. As long as you are at least neutral with the major faction, the naval ascension missions can be offered. Running combat missions and donation missions for minor factions aligned with the major faction is the best way to increase the hidden stat.

So in short, don't unpledge. Just keep running missions for the faction you want to rank up in, and make sure you aren't unfriendly with them.

I'm pledged to Mahon, and have recently gotten naval ascension missions for both the Federation and the Empire.
