Powerplay Power Play Intergration

This is my atempt the intergrate Power Play with the rest of the Back Ground Simulation, Mission System, and Reputation System. I will bullet point this thread because It's easier for me to communicate these ideas.

Recruitment Officers
  • Each mionr faction will have a recruitment officer in the contacts tab
  • Power Play leaders have there own minor faction. (This is already the case right?)
  • Players can join a minor faction or Power Play leader when clicking on the recruiter for that faction
  • When a player joins a faction thier ship will be tagged with the factions name.

Reputaion
  • Ranks are removed from power play factions in favor of Titles
  • The Alliance now has titles just like the Feds and Imps
  • Independent Power Play factions have there own titles
  • Factions in power play offer missions to those with good standing
  • Power Play items are unlocked at different titles just like ships
  • Players gain rep by running missions, turning in combat vouchers (undermining), or trading Power Play items (fortifying)

Controling Systems
  • Power Play now uses the BGS to take over star systems
  • Players can direct exspanion by delivering Power Play items to the star system they want to exspand into.
  • Players can undermine systems by trading certain Power play items. (propaganda satellites)

States
  • Each state has a direct effect on the player
  • Boom states take the place of your Power Play pay cheack
  • Your pay out depends on your standing with the faction
  • The economy of the system determains your pay out (You might get fish from an agri world or credits from an Industrial world)

Let me know what you think about these ideas and how we can intergarde power play with the rest of the game. Thank you for your time commanders.

All good ideas!
Personally I would favour PowerPlay decals - and if possible; PowerPlay paint jobs; rather than the name of the Power we serve to protect. :)

But, yes; all good ideas!
The more alive PowerPlay can be made, the better. :)

I'd have to say a big "no" to Powerplay being integrated with the BGS. Currently they're completely separate, and trying to shoehorn it in would massively annoy people who enjoy either or both of those things.

Powerplay leaders do not have their own minor faction; there will be numerous minor factions in the PP leader's home system, but none of them are directly related to the leader.
I like the idea of being able to "fly the flag" for minor factions as well as PP leaders, even if it's just cosmetic. Hopefully this might come along at a similar time to ship naming et al.

Ranks vs Titles feels slightly arbitrary, although it'd make it feel slightly more human I suppose.
Powerplay missions would be a very nice addition, and IMO it's a shame they are still missing. FD may have been waiting for the new mission system before adding them.

Have to say a big nooooo to this. Firstly, the minor technical hitch: this would require massive changes since the expansion/influence mechanics for Powerplay are completely different and arguably the current BGS mechanics are not suitable for Powerplay (or vice versa).
The big problem, however, is that making Powerplay use the BGS would result in every minor faction that's not a power being thrown out of their own systems as powers grow. Right now, Powerplay is - quite deliberately - a separate, bubble-wide layer which leaves the BGS alone, because the "little people" (minor factions) are only indirectly related to the "movers and shakers" (the PP leaders). Changing this basically means telling any minor factions - including all the newly-added player ones - to shove off, because the big players are now in control of the system.
More varied ways of affecting the PP mechanics are potentially welcome, although could be a balancing nightmare.

Each state has a direct effect on the player
Boom states take the place of your Power Play pay cheack
BGS states having more of an effect on the player would be very welcome; right now they don't make much of a difference to your everyday activities, it'd be nice if they were more noticeable and made you adjust how you play.
I'm not sure how a Boom state would do this given that it can only happen every so often, and you can choose to induce one (or not) depending on what you want to achieve with your faction right now. It'd lead to highly irregular and arbitrary payouts.

Powerplay and BGS integration: Yes! It needs to be done. Powers affect system politics in Elite lore and they should do the same in game, and to a much larger extend than currently implemented. For example, preparing and maintaining a system held by a federally aligned minor faction for an Empire power should be next to impossible.

But they're not separate; the controlling faction of a system has a pretty large influence on the fortification and undermine triggers for the control system. So the BGS and PP are already integrated, yet that integration is completely unrecognized by the merit system. Working the BGS can have a huge impact on the ability of the power to more efficiently achieve their goals each cycle.
