Zip. Dont join a power until you get back and sell your data, even then you dont have to join a power. You can select a planet to scan from the system menu. Plus others.

I remember once I was able to start downloading the files while the server was still down, is this normal? I have to go out at 9pm so I'm really hoping I can start the download before I leave so I can get going straight away when I get back
