Powerplay Power play newbie advice needed please

Hi all

Decided to have a look into power play, read alot of things but I dont understand a few things maybe someone or some people could give me some top notch advice.

I understand the merit thing and I understand about the different powers etc,

I searched around but there is so much info around but nothing fits what I need so I will post here,

Are the merits still 1 merit per item delivered or cargo?

I read that undermining another faction is the best way to get merits its now 30 right?

Can I undermine another faction for example I am in empire and I undermine the feds or something, or do I have to undermine a faction within the empire for example?

If I have to undermine a faction within the empire will that destroy my empire rank and how do I find that factions opposition?

I have been watching a few youtube vids and well not sure if some were really old so I pretty much confused about it, so if anyone could help me out please :D

I would recommend checking out your preferred Powers subreddit. That is generally where the best, most concise information for new PP'rs can be found.

Fortification/Preparation/Expansion - 1 merit per ton of Cargo
Undermining enemy Powers (dif Major Faction) - 30 merits per Powerplay ship destroyed.

If you're an Imp, you want to UM Feds, or Independent Powers. Undermining within your own Major Faction requires you to Pirate cargo, and return it to one of your Control systems, you are awarded 5 merits per ton of cargo delivered. As an Imp, you will receive 30 merits per Powrplay ship you destroy, in the Federation and the Indy Powers.

Yes, UM'ng within your own Major Faction will decrease your Rep with them, but that is dependent on the System type, rather than the Power. For example, a Federation pilot undermining in Sirius Corp space will only lose FedRep if the system they are undermining is a Federation system. If you undermine an independent system, you will not lose rep.

ok so I can if I am empire go to fed space and get 30 merit er kill?

and could you explain about the cycle as I just found out that they reset tomorrow
