Power Play Question

Hello

I'd like to make sure I am doing this Power Play correctly. I have pledged for the Packhounds, I am at 3 Weeks and 1 Day. I just ran enough 'Packages" to get to the 750 Merits I need. I actually have a few more than I need, since when I first pledged I thought I could do it all upfront, but didn't understand that every week it halves your Merits. OK, so now... when the next "Cycle" hits, and I am at 4 Weeks, it will unlock the Packhounds at that point? I am a little confused, since every cycle seems to cut your Merits in half, so I assume it will still cut in half my 758 Merits here but it won't matter since I HAD the 750 needed? All good, just now wait for next cycle?

Just trying to do this right, so I don't have to do it over and will know exactly what I am doing for next Power Play item.

You will unlock packhounds when the time pledged hits 4 weeks. You'll hit level 3 tomorrow with the weekly tick, but you'll still have to wait a few days until the packhounds unlock as you won't have pledged the required amount of time just yet.

Just a few more days of waiting. Although this is why I tend to pledge on a Wednesday, so the two requirements can line up together.

On weekly tick the game checks your merits and assign you a rating. Then it halves your merits as decay.

To buy a PP module you need a rating of 3 and exactly 28 days. If you stay with the power one more week without compensation for the lost merits you will loose rating and half of your current merits , thus loosing the ability to buy PP modules.

TL;DR
Ensure you have 750 merits before the weekly tick prior your 28th day with a power. And be sure to have money to buy as much PP modules you need.

Sorry, but this is where I am getting a little confused. So now, I guess the counter has ticked over and cut my 758 merits in half. I am at Rank 3 but only have 379 Merits now. So I am confused, when I hit that 4 Week mark in a few days, will it see that I HAD 750+ Merits, or the 379 I have now after the cut? This is stressing me, been waiting all these weeks and would hate to lose out and have to do this all over :( I assume it's like you said, it will unlock the Packs, but the Merits and Days are off since I didn't time this right? If I am right, the Packs will unlock on Monday? and I will only have a few days, not an entire week, to buy? Thanks!

Your rating is based off the last week merits and stays until the week ends and that is what is going to matter, so don't worry. The merits shown are simply for the next week's rating.

Pledge to a power then go do your normal thing. You may be hostile in some systems but no system authority ship will attack you. At 3.5 weeks do your power play runs to get the credits to grade 3. Then on the server Thursday AM UTC update or maybe a little later depending on when you started you will have access to the weapons. Store a few, quit the power then move on to another one.

If you want all the 11 power play weapons it will take a year of game play waiting around. Still you can only store 120 modules or weapons. Many players purchase ships just to store them then add them to their current active ships. It is one of the mini-games in ED.

Thank you! Cool! Appreciate it. I felt like I ran the packages one day too soon, but as long as the 750 from yesterday are counted, then I just have to wait until like Monday or Tuesday now, whenever it says "4 Weeks"! The time did go by much faster than I thought it would ;) Thanks again!

I prefer to allow a few days of eligibility between hitting 4 weeks and the next Thursday-morning tick, just in case I can't get on ED for some reason. But if you're worried about missing the "window", you could just top up your merits to 750 again, and stay at rank 3 for another week.

True. Thanks! As soon as they unlock and I load up, I am defecting, waiting the two days (I think?) and then pledging for the Prismatic Shields. I kind of wish I had done the shields first, but at least I'll know better how to manage this process better :rolleyes: Then onto the Hammer, Frags and I think there was one other thing... the grind is real, or in this case, the wait 🕜

When does the Power Play DAYS counter update? I have been looking at 3 Weeks and 5 Days for longer than I think I should be. It's 8:50pm PST now, so just wondering when I can expect the Weeks/Days counter to MOVE to 3 Weeks and 6 Days, then finally 4 Weeks? I do see where it says Next Cycle in 3 Days, just wondering when the timer will switch from 3 Weeks 5 Days to 3 Weeks 6 Days. I think I messed up a bit and will have a slight window of time to get my Packs before this 3 days is up. This is crazy, this waiting! Thanks!

OK, never mind. Crazy, it JUST updated as I was typing the question above. I guess tomorrow at this weird time, 8:50ish pm, I should have 4 Weeks, unless it goes to 3 Weeks and 7 Days? :rolleyes:

Make sure you buy 10 units of them. I kick myself (well actually I kick my slave but same difference) every time I have to change 2 different ships to get a full loadout of 'hounds because I only bought 5 units.

Thanks! Will do! Going to buy at least that for sure. I don't feel like going though this again, not for something I had open already, so I get yeah! Thnx!
