Power Play Rating is a joke

So now that the servers are down I was doing the math for the Rating 5 which is the one that gives you 50 mil credits per week. The calculations are based as if you hauling for merits (essential for control and prep) and if you were on Rating 4 trying to be promoted to 5.

if someone notice any mistake in my math please let me know (I'm not very good at this)

You need to make 10,000 merits to earn R5

At R4 the commodities generated every 0.5 hr is 25 which = 50 merits / 1 hr

10,000m / 50m/h = 200 hrs

We only have one week to achieve the 10,000 merits so 200 hr / 7 days = 28.57 hr/day

So as you can see you would only have to haul for 28.57 hours a day for a week to get the Rating 5 sweet 50 mil CR reward ....... wait, what?!

10000 for 50m/week is rating 5, rating 4, much like rating 3, can't be seen at the moment. And I'm pretty sure you don't get all your merits zeroed out every week...

Sky not falling.

You're assuming the carry over is still 50%. It may have changed when they changed the rank requirements.

Isn't there carryover of a portion of merits from the week prior? Pretty sure there is. So it is just a matter of attaining those upper ranks over a period longer than a week... if one were a grind-hound.
I think...

i think it was
r1 -> 100
r2 -> 750
r3 -> 1000
r4 -> 2000
r5 -> 10000
or so, im not online right now.
also i dont think they get a full reset after each cycle.

to quote the manual:
Merits earned from previous cycles still count towards your rating at diminishing rates.
Your merit total from the previous cycle is halved then added to your current cycle value. After two cycles, its
value is halved again before being added. After three cycles, the value is halved once more. After four cycles
the value is no longer added.

I think the carry over would have to be pretty large to be important enough. Also is there still merit degradation or did I misread that?

Its says "To maintain your ratinig you must earn enough merits to unlock it again this week", however I'm not sure how it is supposed to work with the "Carried from last week"

There is a carryover. I don't know if we'll know for sure how much we carry over week to week until we actually see it.

i have litterally quoted it above

I imagine it would be annoying to be about 9k merits when PP ticks.
Bang goes 5-6k merits with no reward.

Welcome to the new grind. But think yourself lucky - there were no credits at all during the beta, and you needed 20k for rank 5.

So the carry over is 50%

If you get 5000 credits each and every week, that still is not enough !!!!!

week 1 - 5000 credits
week 2 - 5000 credits + 50% of previous week = 7500 credits
week 3 - 5000 credits + 50% of previous week = 8750 credits
week 4 - 5000 credits + 50% of previous week = 9375 credits

You'll want 5334 merits each week to safely maintain 10k current total. Well, OK, technically you can alternate 5334 and 5333, but with one merit in it I'm sure people would go over the amount anyway.

Another way to look at it is if you do manage to get 10k one week then the amounts you need to maintain that in future are as on https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12H-8fOHl-QX4Qmq3UEnuUakL08DGYE5k98_VG2mBA3A (feel free to make a copy of that and play around with the figures in row 2).

Well, we can still hope that they changed it. Some stuff in the manual is still some stuff from beta...

Otherwise, this is nothing anyone without some billions in credits can achieve (or will only be grinding till the end of days)...and i am actually filthy rich, but i see the unfairness for every other player who does not have the time to invest in it...

Oh, and better not go on holiday for 2 weeks^^

Indulge in the PP mechanic.....
grind...
grind...
It appears my intelligence circuits have melted.

Making rank 5, especially with popular powers, have fun.
