I dont want or like power play

I like the idea of the new improved shields

so I joined the nice looking Chick.

spent loads of money getting to 750 merits a week.

the shields for my python 25 million I can live with that.

takes up 80 ton of cargo space!!!!

its not like i can take the shield off and store it some where so i can trade.

Waste of time and money

Not sure what you expected really... I am planning to go 1 size smaller on my Python and Anaconda (and maybe some other ship) so it I can free up the big slot for smtg else without losing shield power.

What do you mean takes up 80T cargo space? I though the Prismatics go into standard shield slots.

My understanding is the shields are just heavier, it is a trade off like most things in ED

Yup Prismatic shields weigh more, draw more power but take up 1 slot smaller than max to give same as max shields... So Fitting a Prismatic size 5 to a Python gives the same shield strength as normal A6.

They are intended to be used by traders and multi-role ships which do not have the same power constraints as fighters.

The Python is one of the few that can take a prismatic shield without dropping a size.
To OP, the class 6 prismatic shields take up a Class 6 slot, they do not take up any additional cargo space. They weigh 80 tons (compared to 40 tons for a normal 6A shield). But as a Python for combat is roughly 700 tons or more, the extra 40 tons does not impact you that much.
