Actually that was George Washington (I'm not so sure if he was USAs first "American" president, but that's just semantics) - not sure about his skin tone - I'm blind in regards to that.

OP - this was discussed EXTENSIVELY at PowerPlay's launch. If you really want to see what the whole forum thought at the time, a quick search will help.
If, after that read, you remain disappointed, then perhaps also ask why so few are women? And what about gays and lesbians - does FD have them covered? How about transgendered people? And why are all the leaders human/humanoid? Where are the little green, blue and purple "people"? And why does every one of the characters have 2 arms and legs? That's one way to look at it.
The other is to accept that this is a game, and applaud the fact that its developers were thoughtful enough to include white, black, Asian and Hispanic-looking individuals.

Maybe, just maybe the populations of those powers did not vote for the black candidate and they lost the elections because their policies were poor and they had no charisma??
I'm not sure what this thread has to do with powerplay, but if the discussion has turned to equality then I for one want to know why there's no feline powers. I'm sure they existed in Elite 1984; hmm, perhaps they molted.
