Ships PowerPlant Integrity for long voyage - DBX/Krait mk2

I am planning my next long voyage which may span over several months. Only two ships I am considering are DBX and Krait MK2. I am currently trying to decide how to improve the integrity of the Power Plant in both of these ships.
Would it be better to have B class PP with Armoured+Double Braced engineering?
Which integrity really counts outside combat when it comes to exploration wear and tear?

I have 2 builds right now that I am tweaking.
DBX Long Exploration

Krait Mk2 Long Exploration

I am aware the weight B class module adds but not concern about the jump range much.

I usually use armoured and class A power plants on exploring builds. Experimental effect varying, sometimes thermal spread helps with heat, sometimes stripped down or double braced.

It helps if you experiment with scooping and landing/taking off on high g planets before leaving the bubble, to get an idea of how your build handles heat.

Also what is the focus of the build. Extreme range or comfort, or speed on scooping and traveling etc..

Both of the builds are actually good on heat, so scooping is not an issue. Goal besides seeing the galaxy, is to stay in the black extended period of time. With my builds, I can fix everything except the PP. So just trying to find out using B class Double Braced Armoured PP increases the integrity for exploration or those have no effect. I know when getting shot at, Armoured PP withstands longer. But not sure if those high integrity is accounted for during non combat situation.

I think Shir makes a good point. Definitely test your build for heat. You'll learn. Head out a good long ways and then come back. You'll see how important heat management is when you're trying to save time and gliding long distances quickly in the expanse.

PP integrity does not matter while exploring, only heat mechanics. Sure you cannot fix PP, but you only take percentage based damage on it anyhow so the "health point value" of it is meaningless. I just returned from a long exploration trip of over 200k LY with my low emissions PP at 99% from that one crash out of hyperspace that happened.

So if I understand right, outside combat the Integrity does not matter for a PP, only damages from Heat does. A Low Emission+Thermal Spread PP is way better for exploration than Armoured one. What about Class B Low Emission+Thermal PP?

Thank you all for replying. This is basically what I wanted to know, if Armoured+Double Braced PP will last longer or not. Checking with the engineer, looks like he can modify my 3A PP with Low Emission+Thermal Spread up to grade 4 with materials I can provide right away.

The tendency to save time is to hit hyperjump whilst still in the corona. The sooner one can hit the FSD while jumping from star to star saves precious seconds while rushing home. With a superb build, one can hit the FSD very early and not take damage.

Take a class A power plant, more power, lower heat, and less weight than class B. As others have said, the integrity is not that important for exploring. With how the damage distribution works it's better to fill every empty slot with something than chase the integrity points of some modules.

Sometimes it's more profitable to use : Guardian Power Plant.
I do have Guardian Power Plant and have used them for a while for activities other than Exploration. For much less weight they offer much higher power output. Only reason I did not consider them for this voyage is the heat generation.
Did you mean it is profitable to use in general situation other than exploration?

No. When they modify the Power Plant, it loses its durability.

And sometimes the alternative is to take it from the guards.

What baffles me is that 1286 years into the future, humanity has forgotten how to install backup power generators. We can install additional fuel tanks as optional modules, so why not backup powerplants? It does not need to be large, just large enough to run life support and an AFMU while I am parked on some distant moon.

This seems a great idea. Some "backup" generator you could fit into optionnal modules. It may be some great addition to the game. Love this.

Don't bother yourself with PP integrity, just use the smallest A-rated that can give you the needed power engineered with G5 Armored with Thermal Spread
