Powerplay 2.0 issue or me being thick?

I've been enjoying the weekly missions in Poweplay 2.0 (mostly) and this week I got a recover goods in an Acquisition system job.

I'm a bit rubbish at stealth and don't like massacreing the innocent so I found an Anarchy settlement to target.

On both occasions I tried, the settlement had been taken over by raiding pirates - but that was fine, I got hold of some Power goods and took them back to a nearby Reinforcing system.

This is where the problem arose. Wherever I tried to give them to the Power Contact, it showed Out of Range on the display.

The mission stated within Control Range (I'm not sure what that is) but it was within the perimeter of the circle in Strategic view and was linked by a dotted line.

The last system I raided was RBS 1843 and I tried taking the goods to various places including LHS 3885 which is just over 11 Light Years away.

So, can anyone say, is this me misunderstanding things or is it an issue with Powerplay 2.0?

Thanks for any thoughts.

I've done some more research, and wow..... there does seem to be some widespread confusion - but I'm of the opinion that there needs to be a solid line link between the system I'm operating in and a stronghold/fortified system in order for me to receive power credits. That means it is an acquisition system, meaning the attempt to acquire it is ongoing.

.....I think.

Acquistion [...] RBS 1843
That's the problem - RBS 1843 is a system already controlled by Jerome Archer, so this would be a Reinforcement action (assuming you support Archer) and Odyssey goods can't be used to Reinforce [1]. "Out of range" is an entirely unhelpful way of telling you that, of course.

Acquisition is the process of bringing neutral systems into your Power's control, so you need to pick a system on the edge of Archer's territory, indicated with a white circle (or white double circle) on the Powerplay map, where you can draw back a line to one of your Fortified/Stronghold systems.

[1] You've got two options for the ones you've picked up.
- sell them to a bartender for some credits to get them out of your hands (usually recommended)
- hang onto them for the unlikely contingency that RBS 1843 gets undermined out of Archer's control, then hand them in to LHS 3885 to try to reacquire it.

Does that require that they remain on the player's person? (In other words, would FC-storage of them kill their usefulness?)
No idea - opportunities to test this sort of thing are extremely rare!

Having a FC full of Powerplay goods for extremely odd contingencies probably isn't any better than having your personal inventory full of them, though.

Thanks, that's very helpful.

I found a suitable settlement (anarchy) and successfully handed in the booty to a nearby stronghold, (connected by a solid line).

One thing that caught my attention was after locating the power containers on a terminal and noting their security codes, when I made my way to the first one, the numeric code appeared (of it's own volition) in the little UI requester box. Is that a helpful addition from Frontier that I missed? It didn't happen with the next box.

You get the numeric code if:
- the container is the one you selected at the terminal
- you have sufficient clearance (level 2, in this case) to view the code

A quick note if you can't find a suitable Anarchy (or shutdown) base for this one: they don't change the codes, and some of the containers are often fairly close to a landing pad. So you can do this to avoid needing much actual stealth:
- land, find an out-of-the-way terminal, e-breach it, look up the codes, get back to your ship and leave
- come back later, find a container near the landing pad, wait until no-one is watching, then open it with the noted code, grab the stuff and run

(I'm likewise no good at the stealth side of things but managed to rob a few powered up non-Anarchy bases fine this way)
