Powerplay PowerPlay Burnouts

'The light that burns so bright, burns half as long.' I put a lot of money into this game recently even though I have a lifetime pass. I did this because I like elite dangerous and I like the new ships and the change in materials and engineering. Power Play 2.0 improved a little over Power Play 1.0. It is still about the weapons and modules. It will help PvPers as it will reduce their insurance payouts but only if they play the Power Play game. I'll be watching their streams to see if it changes their gameplay. To be honest, I prefer shooting Thargoids. To those who burnt themselves out reaching 100 in a few days I say this: I left Power Play 2.0 when I saw the mess. I turned off all your gains and benefits and achievements with one click of a button. I have all the weapons I need. Mostly AX weapons. I prefer the Thargoid war to the war of finding the fastest way to grind merits. Sure, it will mean earning half as much, but I'll play the game for twice as long.

No idea about this. I'm rank 7 after a few play sessions of casually doing PP weekly's and some other stuff.

Is there a race on to achieve max rank or something?

ranking seems to have become pretty easy with the recent changes. Of course this depends on the activities you choose, and there is the very real possibility that your (the proverbial you, not you personally) preferred activity doesn't pay as well (yet).

Anyway, even though I consider myself an advanced player, I would descripe my play style as relaxed, maybe even casual. Yet in my last two play sessions I made 67k merits easily - yesterday I did the weeklies and some HazRes'ing for 29k, today I core mined for a smidge over an hour and made 38k, and now I'm at rank 15 and 97k merits - and both play sessions yesterday and today were fun and not dominated by "grind". It's hardly a drag - a few core mining sessions and I'll reach the first module rank.

Having said that: Nothing wrong with not liking power play, or any activity for that matter. Blaze your own trail and all that.

Basically got it from just doing 2 weeks of weekly tasks and the odd bounties i got. Plus ship scans... get like 12 merits just for targetting ships.
