After a year and a bit of playing this game, I decided to go back to Powerplay and give it yet another shot. Why not. I mean, I explored, I fought, I mined, I scooped, I have done a lot of flying hither and yon (I have yet to buy Horizons) so I thought I would try PP again. I tried, I mean really tried, to get into it when it first came along, but it felt lackluster. It didn't grab me like combat zones or circular rare trading (that was kinda boring actually)... so I have tried again.

This time, I found the reddit page for my faction and it gave me some tips to PP. I started last Friday with 0 merits. Zip. Zero. Zilch. I now am approaching 5000 merits. For whatever reason, I get interdicted. More now than I have ever in the past. Depending upon which ship I currently am in, I will usually cut engines and either fight or run. I can't seem to out 'dict the interdict anymore. Anyway. This "feature" has come in handy lately. I went to a system that refuses to Bask and I sit between the star and station and sure enough, when Fed Agents come along, they hit me up. And when there are no Agents, there is always Fed-Aid ships to try to interdict. I like this better than moving 10 whatever from here to there and rinse repeat. If I have to a thing over and again, my particular bent is fighting.

I have no real idea what this will do for my faction, if anything. But I will get some money for being there. Maybe not alot, and maybe I have to keep doing it to get my money but it's fun for a bit. And I have not really ever had a high bounty like this before. Now I just need to make sure no CMDR sees me for 6 more days... [haha][haha][haha][haha][haha][haha][haha][haha]

I have been looking for a CZ that will allow me to just fight and not have to wait those precious 3 to 4 mins between action. So far, I have not found one. But, who knows... And yeah, CZs, if what I read was right, only give 10 per ship instead of 30, but I prefer my buffets without waiting.

Good read, what's funny is that I played since the game was first released, went to SAG- A in a Conda and couldn't wait to get the cutter. I did that and with a few weeks, I reset my game. Now, about 2 months later, with over 150M to my name, I'm in my FDL doing PP. I went with The FEDS this time, as I want to try their ships out. But, I made 1900 merits in 2 days going to his security sites

My only question is: do I need to gain 1500 per week for level 4, or do I just need to maintain 1500 after the decay?

Anyways, I hope you enjoy it, as I am. Also, I play in open and have met some good wing mates.

From what I have read, you have to make up the ~50% decay to keep your level. Of course, I could be wrong.

As for open, I don't play any other way. Yeah, some CMDRs have a perverse sense of fun, but for the most part I would say I have had great experiences.

I am slowly working towards an FDL. My Vulture is kitted out nicely, but someday... if I don't restart again!

There's always CZs where you can fight. If your own power has none, look where the other powers have them. You can go and oppose them to get 10 merits per kill.
