Powerplay - Golden Snitch ATR

A Saturday thought burp, but why not make ATR like a Golden Snitch from Harry Potter?

ATR are quite chunky, but what,if they were worth something spanky like 10K merits? It would encourage evil activities to summon them, and then mucho blasting. Would make a fun change from the squishy NPCs we currently have.

A+ thought burp, but the more high value activities on top of power specific activity bonuses we have, the more difficult it will be for the non-existent balance team to balance and the more we’re going to be forced into one or two meta activities to compete.

Encouraging more crime for merits increases ties between PP and BGS damage. It’s ironic, we went from fair fights with BGS factions in the name of PP to being incentivized to haphazardly dump on them with no way for them to fight back.

I wish we had some stated design goals for PP2 and consistent movement toward them so stuff like this could be fit in.

Murder is already rewarded with merits though and a valid 'job' in PP2. The problem is that PP NPCs are really poor (but have higher rewards) while non aligned NPCs are worth much less but are more difficult (because they have better C+P behind them). This idea just amends that balance and has a 'boss' like NPC and reward.

Plus, have you ever tried to kill ATR? They are very tough.

I always wondered why they chose Vultures for ATR as those form part of the staple of things I like murderising with fixed weapons (a mix of a Viper mk3 and FdL/Mamba would certainly give me pause however).

That aside, this is interesting because killing one ATR wouldn't be too bad as far as time is concerned. However it's going to be a challenge given that first you need to make a solid lump of pig iron (shields being useless of course), specific to this activity. You need to get good at flying it with no comparable challenge to the ATR to practice on and those things do spawn in pairs.

I'm pretty sure than for less than something like around 10k it's going to be beaten in efficiency and risk than a lot of other activities, so that seems fair too.

Although I do recognise how high risk, high reward activities are generally viewed, but hey, maybe something similar to this will appear one day (optional, avoidable, but there for those who want to test their skills/luck)
