Powerplay initial tasks

Didnt want to create a whole thread on this but cant find the info anywhere else

Just got back from a stint in Colonia and decided to join a power.
Can i start the initial tasks now and continue after the server tick tomorrow or will everything reset and i have to start over?
Also If i hand in my exploration data now (or anything else for that matter ie trading) will I get merits for that, or is nothing counted till you complete the initial tasks?

It resets after the tick.

It shouldn’t take too long to complete them, unless you’re unfortunate enough to get one of the bugged missions.

The initial 5 assignments are the same for everyone and not randomized. They don't bug out and aren't tied to specific systems.

I guess the only problem could be if a Power has no acquisition/reinforcement/undermine systems at all.

Complete the first tasks to get onto the rank board.
Then you can pick and choose then new tasks each week as you feel fit or do other things for merits.
I tend to bounty hunt mostly within friendly systems for merits now that im on the rank grind.

TBH i have zero interest in delivering rare goods or collecting escape pods.
Would be nice if i could select my playstyle when signing up to PP, so that the tasks are more interesting to me.

Just to provide an update, Seems your initial tasks DO persist through the tick
I completed 4 of the 5 last night (didnt quite get to the escape pods) and this morning im still showing 4/5 complete with 16000-odd merits banked (still rank zero which was expected)

Kinda annoying as i held on to 9 rare goods to insta-turn in today for what would have been an easy 3k more merits :)
