Powerplay merits calculation

I understand how the calculation is done, but at the end of the first week's cycle, I had 860 merits handed in. When I logged in last night, I had 998 merits.

How did I get the 138? Did anyone else see a funny calculation applied to their total?

Yeah I made it to 100 and called it a day last week, I expected to be rank 2 and on 50 merits: I was rank 2, but I had 113 merits. No idea why.

Yeah I'm really having trouble understanding how this merit decay is supposed to work. Michael Brookes did say something in his recent Dev update (it was a reply to someone) that this past week would only see 6/7th of merit decay, or that we'd keep 6/7ths of our merits... I don't know. What I do know is that I had 1500ish merits, then I had 1700ish merits.

I had something somewhat similar. I think it might have something to do with any enemy agents you shot down. You are supposed to get merits for these, and at the time I remember not seeing how or where they were awarded if you shot them down in the course of your normal operations (as opposed to doing specific seek and destroy missions). I don't know about you guys, but the small addition in my numbers seemed to be attributal to the 10 or so encounters I had had with enemy NPC agents.

1/7 of 100 = 13 (close enough)

So instead of reducing the decay in merits to 6/7 of what it should have been and then removing that amount from your total, it looks like the calculation has actually added 1/7 to your existing merits, instead of removing 6/7 of 50.

In your case the reduction should have been 50 for a normal week, but this week was 'special' and should have been (50 * 6/7) = 43 leaving you with 57 merits.

Instead the calculation seems to have been: new merits = old merits + (old merits * 1/7)

Maybe this was to compensate for the cycle being 6 instead of 7 days? It was already admitted that 6 days was a bug, but that the cycle length is still being considered.

we wish lol, Michael had already stated what was supposed to happen (decay not increase)
