Hi, sorry for the noob-ness of this question but:

If I pledge to ALD (Empire aligned), does this mean that I will still face interdiction spam when travelling in the space of another Empire-aligned power, e.g. Zemina Torval?

Actually you get interdiction spam in any control system, regarless of who it belongs to. Exploited systems also have fairly high interdiction rates.

Yeah, I guess I would expect higher frequency due to incursions? But if you are pledged to an Empire-aligned power and in the space of a different Empire-aligned power, are you painting a large target on your back? I mean to cmdrs as well as NPCs? More so than if you are travelling in e.g. Fed space?

No no, you shouldn't have painted any target on your back when in Empire space at all. If any Empire aligned CMDR kills a fellow Imperial, he is considered a traitor and loses a large amount of merits. When you are in another Empire power's territory, you are in allied area.
