Engineers Powerplay now a joke

Time to vent my spleen, i am allied with the anime princess (only for the prismatic shields). used to be able to undermine quite easily interdict destroy, rinse and repeat, Now when i do manage to interdict, the bloody cops turn up quick time and scupper that, ok i think, Anarchy system, here we go manage to interdict a type 6 (im in a A rated Python by the way) It out turns me, ok F.A off in my sights Bang destroy it. yeessss, oh nooo the kill hasn't registered, ok next up Cobra down to 50% shields im targeting its F.S.D for all im worth then, frame shift drive detected and its away. Now this has happened almost continually this morning i have been playing for three hours and have one yes one kill to my name. I dont want to buy my way to the prismatics but i feel soon i will have no choice, I have been playing this game since the first day of beta and quite frankly i think they have messed up the A.I and the mechanics of the game. Now please dont everyone start saying git gud, I am not a novice and can handle myself . But god help anyone new starting the game, they will get disillusioned very very quickly.Anyway im hoping that the last three hours have all been a dream, back to the game and hopefully some kills.

you know that undermining is a serious crime? It should be hard with cops and BH after you ....

There are many other "regular" and legal things you can do for your power to gain merits.
 
Correct, it should be harder but like i said i pity any newcomers, and lets face it new players are needed in this game so that us seasoned players can carry on playing into F.Ds 10 year plan. Lets hope they tone it down a bit so it makes it easier for the new blood. Anyway on a more positive note, i seem to have had more luck with interdictions and not failed with one for the last few hours.

Took me 3 hours to get same merits I did in one yesterday some kept jumping away. I like it this way new players shouldn't even pledge till they have now experience
 
Well, that was not my experience last night. I spent about 1 1/2 hour in Phra Mool, a Hudson's system in anarchy. I managed to get 450 merits. Granted, it's on the low side. As you pointed out, the NPCs are a bit smarter now. At some point, I was fighting a wing of 2 Alliance Enforcers. One was in a Viper, the other in an Adder. The Viper was master and the Adder was elite. After a lot of FA off, thrusters in reverse, then forward, I was able to take out the Viper (I was in my Corvette). Took me even longer to take out the Adder but I did kill it. All NPCs were a bit better at flying but not that much. They were mostly competent or master. I didn't see a single Federal Logistic ship flown by a dangerous, deadly or elite NPCs.

That being said...

First problem I noticed: they were still using modded weapons, even though there was a post earlier yesterday by Zac that NPCs were supposed to be stripped from their modded weapons by a server side update. Multiple times, I was getting a warning that my heat was being increased.

Second problem: every now and then, a deadly or elite NPC flying an Anaconda or an FdL would show up in the system and would go with the standard "Here you are. I've been looking for you". So, now, I had to fight off interdictions from these guys. I would say that every 10-15 minutes, one of these guys would appear in the system. Once after interdicting a Federal Logistic ship and dropping from SC, I found myself facing that deadly Anaconda that I had evaded a few minutes earlier. It's more challenging but the result is that my undermining score is lower. I had a couple of NPCs being able to flee but that was the exception, not the rule. When interdicting a Federal Logistic, I get within 400 meters before I start shooting. They're still pretty dumb that even when you have your hardpoints deployed, they will let you approach them. Then, I just rain fire on them so that they don't have time to flee. Remember, the Corvette is probably the slowest ship after the Anaconda, so I really have to get close and then hit them hard so they can't run away.
 
ya its pretty hard, id have to agree with the author. the AI still needs a bit of tweeking but its harder than before the patch and not crazy like the first few days of the patch.
