Newcomer / Intro Powerplay: Power Controled Systems??

Hello all,

I am trying to figure this powerplay out... I am supposed to bring the intel from a system outside the power to a power controlled system to prepare it. Is there only one power controlled system? The only one I could find was the capital. If not, how can I tell if it IS power controlled?

Thanks

The goods are collected from control systems, and taken to preparation & expansion systems. I think you have it the wrong way round :) If you look on your faction screen, there are tabs up the top showing all control systems (inc HQ) that you currently have. Also it shows you which systems are being prepared this cycle, and which are being expanded into. Just hit the top tabs & all the systems are listed for you. These will be your destinations.

Beside what Klab already wrote, you can see if it's being controlled (and by who) in your galaxy map, if you choose Powerplay view. Mouse over a system and you'll get all sorts of info about it. In that map view you have three options to view systems.
Overview - Just shows you all the powers and their teritory
Expansion - Will show you top 10 systems being prepaired (marked by numbers) for chosen power and all systems expanding for it (marked by icon with circles)
Control - That will show you all the controlled systems for chosen power (marked with shield - yellow shield means it's fortified, red mark means it's undermined)

Also, what "mission" you have for chosen system can be seen in Poweplay screen if you click on a system. It'll tell you how to prepaire/fortify/undermine/expand it (depending on what phase it's in and who controls it and what your power ethos are).

Powerplay for me really seems to become something like your second job.
I only have 2 available hours to play, instead of having the fun, i dont think ill get into a new job and do some missions routinely.

Is it really fun guys?
Im located in Aisling Duval territory.. shall i try that?
And how do i know a cycle is completed?
Do you have to pledge every cycle?
or the game continues your situation every cycle and you have to leave manually!

Fly safe guys ;)

I've uploaded a picture to show you what to do.

Unless you view playing a game as a job then PP is not a job.
It is just an added layer of politics on already existing game mechanics.
It adds a face and identity to otherwise faceless parts of space.
I think that is a good thing. Elite really needed that and PowerPlay delivers.
It needs a bit of refinement and tweaking, but I believe it is a great addition to the Elite universe and a great foundation to build upon.

You should join a power that offers rewards that you like. I joined A Lavigny Duval because she offers bonuses for bounty hunters and because I just happened to be very active in systems she rules. So I know these hunting grounds so to speak.

Currently the cycle completes on thursday if I am not mistaken. Take time to study the powerplay screens. There is a lot of info in there.

You do not have to pledge every cycle. You stay pledged until you leave, or betray your power.
If you leave the consequences are minor. If you betray, you will be hunted for a certain period of time. I personally like that and am almost seduced into betraying my power just to experience it :).

You asked if it was fun. I think it is, but it depends strongly upon the way you play. You can grind all the time or you can play it in a more playful, flexible manner. I do not dedicate 100% of my time to my Power. I do what comes to mind, but I take care to earn the merits I need/want in the mean time.

I'm defecting after this cycle :) I quite like power play now I have got into it. It brings some gameplay I wouldn't have tried otherwise. It has brought me 300,000 bounty on my head in Fed space too which makes travelling there quite exciting :)

Why do you have bounty on your head because of pp?

Becouse there are missions you can do to undermine opposing powers progress. It requires you to do ... not so legal things in enemy teritory (shooting down ships, etc..), actions he would not do if there were no PP... I assume :)

And to answer the question about "is it fun?" - yes, it's fun, PP opens up additional things to do, things you maybe would never do without it. It doesn't force you to do anything you don't want to, but just opens up new options. So like you said, you only have 2 hours to play (2 hours, what, per week? per day?), you loose nothing if you pledge to a power, but you might gain some options to do things you normaly wouldn't. For example, you might go steal supplies from opposing power, which would let you experience piracy. And since all crimes and bounties are now tied only to a single system, you can be a pirate in one, bounty hunter in other, miner in third, trader in fourth, ... etc... So for playing the way you like (or just the way you played or would play without PP), you might gain a small bonus in weekly salary or in power bonus. No harm in trying.

Do not worry.
PP does not force you to get a bounty on your head in any way.
However you can choose to be active in enemy territory and kill enemy agents. This will result in a bounty in the enemy systems you are active in.

Be careful though not to kill opposing agents that belong to the same main faction as your own.
A Lavingny Duval (Empire) for example will not reward you for killing agents of another Imperial power.
On the contrary... 20 merits per kill will be taken from you.

I am aligned to A Lavigny-Duval and went to Archon Delaine's (a pirate lord) territory to kill as many Kumo crew criminals as I can. It is great fun and very lucrative in the merit department, but I am now wanted there.

EDIT:

I forgot:

This is a good link for some PP information:
